Celebrating a Milestone in Ishigaki Island

The celebrations kick off with a photo exhibition featuring winning entries from the photo contest titled #YourIshigakiIsland. This exhibition will run at two venues: the Kuramoto Sake & Gallery and the guesthouse itself, allowing visitors to experience the stunning beauty of Ishigaki through the eyes of those who have captured its essence.

Set to commence from June 15, 2026, the photo contest was launched to commemorate a decade of hospitality and connection to Ishigaki Island. Contestants were encouraged to explore and share their most memorable experiences on the island, whether it be breathtaking landscapes, deeply rooted cultural traditions, or simply the everyday scenes that represent life on Ishigaki.

A panel of ten judges, comprising professional photographers and hotel staff based in Ishigaki, carefully selected fifteen standout entries from the submissions. Each winning piece reflects diverse aspects of the island’s allure, showcasing the lively culture, delicious cuisine, and the vibrant community life that characterizes Ishigaki.

In contrast, the second phase will provide a participatory voting opportunity for guests who stay at the guesthouse. As part of this unique initiative, guests will be invited to choose their favorite photograph during their stay, ultimately highlighting how each individual perceives their own Ishigaki Island.

Grand Prize Announcement

The grand prize for the contest will be awarded to the submission that receives the most votes during the exhibition's second phase. The results are set to be announced by late October 2026, providing a collaborative way for guests to engage with the art and local culture.
