Sagemcom's Global Move Towards RDK Standardization
At the recent Mobile World Congress 2025, renowned broadband equipment manufacturer Sagemcom, in partnership with RDK Management, unveiled a significant initiative: the standardization of RDK-B (RDK for Broadband) software across its entire portfolio of broadband customer premises equipment (CPE). This includes advancements such as DOCSIS 4.0, DOCSIS 3.1, XGS-PON, GPON fiber gateways, and 5G Fixed Wireless Access solutions.
This comprehensive adoption of RDK-B is poised to bolster Sagemcom’s ability to provide cutting-edge broadband solutions to service providers globally. Currently, the company is in the process of deploying RDK-enabled devices throughout Europe, North America, and Latin America. This strategy allows operators to standardize their software stack, facilitating the rapid introduction of innovative services.
Boris Nabedryk, Sagemcom’s Executive Vice President of Broadband, expressed the significance of this milestone, stating, "Implementing RDK-B across our broadband portfolio is vital in our commitment to give operators robust and consistent software solutions." By harnessing RDK's common architecture, Sagemcom aims to accelerate the pace of innovation, offering global clients devices that are rich in features and capable of delivering remarkable broadband experiences.
RDK, an open-source software easily deployed across over 100 million devices, offers standardized core functions for broadband and video devices. With RDK-B, essential functionalities such as device management, telemetry, Wi-Fi services, Ethernet access, and IPv6 transitioning are integrated. These features are compatible with all major access technologies like DOCSIS, GPON, and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA). By creating an all-encompassing software stack, service providers can manage a consistent set of broadband services across their networks seamlessly, thus simplifying the integration process and facilitating quicker launches of new services.
"Sagemcom’s broad adoption of RDK signifies the platform's flexibility across various broadband technologies," remarked Jason Briggs, President and General Manager of RDK. He highlighted that Sagemcom's initiative would empower operators to streamline development processes, hasten time to market, and enhance consumer broadband experiences worldwide.
