Overture International's Leadership Transition: A New Era for Child Protection and Community Development

Overture International's Leadership Transition

On May 21, 2025, Overture Outreach International, known as Overture International, announced a noteworthy shift in its leadership structure, marking a pivotal moment in its commitment to child safety, family preservation, and community empowerment in Haiti. This change, which affects two key founding members, Jocelyn Nelson and Cameron Parker, aims to strengthen the organization’s impact and ensure its longevity.

Background of the Transition

The decision to restructure leadership came after an in-depth review by the Board of Directors. This evaluation recognized the necessity for such changes to enhance Overture's operational effectiveness and sustainability. Following this process, Jocelyn Nelson was relieved from various roles, including Board President and Regional Director for Haiti, while Cameron Parker stepped down from his positions as Vice President and President of the Board.

Jocelyn Nelson, a prominent Haitian leader, had significantly contributed to Overture since its inception. She served as Board President from March 2017 to February 2020 and later as Regional Director until September 2023. Her strong leadership fostered numerous initiatives aimed at the wellbeing of children and families in Haiti.

Cameron Parker, based in Colorado, USA, was instrumental to Overture’s strategic decisions, holding leadership roles from March 2017 until his recent stepping down in March 2025. Both leaders have played critical roles in shaping Overture’s vision and strategy over the years.

A Commitment to Transformation

Overture emphasizes a culture of transparency and accountability. The organization recognizes that leadership transitions, though challenging, are often essential for evolving and improving its services. As articulated by remaining founder and Executive Director, Lisa Hyatt, the commitment to their core values—integrity, inclusivity, and empowerment—continues to guide the organization's direction.

Lisa, alongside Maxo Fontaine, another founder, and the remaining board members, is poised to embrace this transition as an opportunity for growth and renewed focus on Overture's mission. The leadership team is dedicated to ensuring that every child receives necessary support and care within a nurturing family environment.

Looking Ahead

The current leadership believes that meaningful change is underway. They aspire to enhance the community resources available to families, thereby fostering sustainable developments. Overture’s mission is clear: every child deserves a safe and loving home, and every family should have access to vital community resources and support.

As Overture International moves forward, the organization expresses gratitude for the significant contributions of Jocelyn Nelson and Cameron Parker, wishing them success in their future endeavors. Their legacy is firmly tied to the foundational principles of Overture and will undoubtedly influence the organization's ongoing journey.
