About Bonjour ICII
Born in Hokkaido in 1968, Bonjour ICII is a celebrated Japanese illustrator and author known for his vivid, playful art. After graduating from Osaka University of Arts in 1991, he began his career, quickly gaining recognition for his unique style and the strong character of his works. Notably, the song "Fushigi na Chikara," written and composed by him, became part of the beloved NHK program 'Minna no Uta', contributing to his presence in children’s media.
His colorful and whimsical art attracts attention from a broad audience, including Generation Z, especially through his exhibitions and picture books. His last major exhibition at Shibuya Hikarie in 2025 welcomed over 1,000 visitors, marking a triumphant return after two years.
Additionally, Bonjour ICII has opened a 'Bonjour Bookshop' within Shibuya Hikarie, where he engages directly with fans, discussing his books and their creative inspirations. As an active member of the Tokyo Curry Brigade, he undertakes event activities for over 25 years, showcasing his passion for spice and cuisine. Furthermore, as the founding chief of the Shonan Spice Tribe, he brings culinary experiences and workshops to the Shonan area.
