Midea Showcases Sustainable HVAC Innovations at C&R 2025
From November 18 to 20, 2025, Midea Air Conditioning participated in the C&R 2025, Spain's premier exhibition for professionals in the fields of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC). Midea presented an extensive portfolio of sustainable innovations aimed at transforming how we think about climate control.
One of the standout products at the event was Midea's R290 series, which embodies the brand's philosophy of "GREEN VISION BLUE FUTURE". Midea led the way as the first company globally to commercialize R290-based air conditioners, beginning this journey in 2010 with a pilot production line funded by the United Nations. Today, Midea operates twelve state-of-the-art production lines with an annual output capacity of 6.4 million units. These R290 solutions are widely recognized in global markets for their significant contributions to reducing CO2 emissions and setting international standards for eco-friendly refrigerants.
Midea's innovation extends beyond just products. The company employs a team of over 10,000 engineers and operates 42 pilot labs to develop a comprehensive R290 product matrix suitable for residential, commercial, and industrial applications. This reflects Midea's strategic vision of making green technology scalable and accessible.
Another key highlight was the introduction of the ECOMASTER system. This energy-saving solution leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize the performance of Midea's devices, particularly air conditioners, thereby reducing energy consumption. ECOMASTER continuously monitors indoor conditions and outdoor weather, making real-time adjustments with a tolerance of ±0.3 °C. This ensures consistent comfort while optimizing energy use, leading to savings of over 30%. Integrated into models like Solstice and Solunar, the system sets new efficiency standards, boasting cooling efficiency ratings of A+++ for Solstice and A++ for Solunar, showcasing the next generation of smart, sustainable HVAC solutions.
Midea also unveiled the PortaSplit, a portable air conditioning unit designed for optimal performance and installation flexibility with a SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) rating of 6.1 and a SCOP (Seasonal Coefficient of Performance) rating of 4.0. Its design accommodates various European window types, including French balconies and skylights. This adaptability makes it suitable for a range of living styles, from modern apartments to historic buildings. The tool-free, three-step installation process showcased at the exhibition has led to strong market demand and a sold-out launch in France.
Another significant product presented was the H-Pack, a compact heating solution selected for this year's CR Innovation Gallery, spotlighting low-greenhouse-potential refrigerants, digital control, and circular economy principles. The H-Pack was developed by Midea's European R&D team and uses the eco-friendly refrigerant R290, eliminating the need for an external unit. Its modular, indoor-design ensures seamless compatibility with gas boiler systems, simplifying installation and maintenance while offering a cost-effective approach to modern heating.
Beyond product innovation, Midea actively fostered industry engagement through interactive workshops during the event. These sessions facilitated professional exchanges and enhanced collaboration within the HVAC sector. The brand expanded its presence beyond the exhibition hall through advertising campaigns highlighting its dual sponsorship partnership with Manchester City and Sevilla FC in prominent locations like Gran Vía and IFEMA in Madrid, underlining its commitment to passion, social responsibility, and excellence.
As Midea continues its mission to drive intelligent transformation in both residential and industrial environments, the focus remains on sustainability and innovation. The company envisions a future characterized by collaboration between people and machines, integrating KUKA industrial robotics and MIRA home automation technologies to redefine efficiency and enhance human experience, empowering individuals to pursue creativity and progress.
