The 30th Annual Diary Award: Share Your Memorable Quotes

In an initiative that encourages reflection and creativity, Takahashi Shoten, a subsidiary of the professional agency group C&R, is excited to announce the launch of the 30th Annual Diary Award. This prestigious competition, known for recognizing memorable phrases and innovative ideas, invites participants to submit quotes that have made a lasting impact on them. The call for entries will officially commence in September 2025, with submissions accepted until April 30, 2026. The winners will be revealed at a celebratory awards ceremony scheduled for November 2026.

What is the Diary Award?

The Takahashi Shoten Diary Award is a unique contest that celebrates words and ideas. It consists of two categories: the Famous Quote Award and the Idea Award. Every year, a multitude of inspiring quotes from those close to us, as well as innovative product ideas, are submitted, contributing to the evolution of diary usage and aspirations for its future.

Seeking Unforgettable Quotes

Have you ever heard a poignant statement during a casual conversation that just stuck with you? Perhaps it was a friend’s charming remark or wisdom shared by a loved one. Now is your chance to share those unforgettable quotes! Entrants are encouraged to provide context along with the quote, detailing the circumstances and the individual who said it. There are no limits on the number of entries, so feel free to share as many poignant moments as you desire.

Awards and Recognition

The finalists will compete for substantial cash prizes:
  • - Grand Prize: 1 entry will win 1 million yen
  • - Special Awards: 3 entries will each receive 200,000 yen
  • - Excellence Awards: Several entries will each earn 100,000 yen

How to Enter

Submissions can be made through mail or via the online entry form. The required information includes:
1. The memorable quote from a loved one
2. The person who said it
3. A brief description of the context in which it was said (up to 300 characters)
4. Personal details such as address, name, age, gender, occupation, phone number, email address, and whether you wish to remain anonymous during publications.

The submission deadline is April 30, 2026; mailed entries will be valid as long as they are postmarked by this date. Notably, 365 top submissions will also be featured in Takahashi Shoten’s published “Daily Quotes Calendar,” which will be released in 2028.

Previous Winners and New Opportunities

The competition also introduced a Group Award aimed at encouraging schools and other organizations to participate. Groups that submit outstanding entries will receive certificates and gift cards. Detailed information regarding group submissions can be found on the official Diary Award website.
