A Culinary Night Merging the Charm of Nara and Kyoto Hotels
On July 31, 2026, the iconic Nara Hotel and Hotel Granvia Kyoto will host an exclusive full-course dinner event, titled "Nara Hotel × Hotel Granvia Kyoto: A Culinary Night Merging Two Cities." This special collaboration aims to celebrate the rich traditions and histories of these two renowned establishments amidst the backdrop of their long-standing legacies.
Celebrating Tradition and Culture
The Nara Hotel, boasting a history of 117 years, is preparing for a major renovation in September 2026, marking a pivotal moment in its storied journey. To highlight this transition, the event will showcase not only the exquisite cuisine of both hotels but also the cultural essence each brings to the table. Guests can expect a full-course meal centered around the theme of "Pilgrimage to the Ancient Capital," featuring sumptuous local ingredients from both Nara and Kyoto.
Among the standout dishes, the main course will see the presentation of an exquisite Nara beef filet prepared teppanyaki-style, accompanied by a demiglace sauce infused with the aroma of persimmon leaves, a dish synonymous with Nara Hotel's culinary prestige. Additionally, a unique baked abalone and Kyoto shiitake mushroom dish will be plated, enriched with truffle scent – a nod to the gourmet lineage of Hotel Granvia Kyoto.
An extraordinary element of this culinary experience is the display of silverware that has been preserved for over 110 years. These pieces, formerly used at the luxurious Nagasaki Hotel during the Meiji era, add an air of elegance and historical significance to the meal. Each course will be served with a focus on pairing exquisite wines, chosen by the sommeliers from both hotels to enhance the tasting experience.
An Evening to Remember
The venue for this special event will be the Genji no Ma banquet hall on the third floor, decorated to reflect the class and charm of both hotels. The gathering will begin at 6:30 PM, with registrationopening at 6:00 PM. General admission is priced at 30,000 yen, while JR Hotel Members and WESTER members can enjoy a discounted rate of 27,000 yen. This price includes a full course menu and drink pairings, allowing guests to immerse themselves in both Nara's and Kyoto's culinary delights.
As part of the experience, there will be a special exhibition displaying historical photographs and documents that narrate the rich legacy of Nara Hotel. It is a chance for attendees to appreciate the surrounding history as they savor each course.
