New Shroud of Turin Museum to Open Soon at Christ Cathedral Campus

New Shroud of Turin Museum Set to Open

The long-anticipated Shroud of Turin museum will open its doors at the Christ Cathedral campus on November 19, 2025. This landmark establishment, dedicated to the Shroud of Turin — an artifact that has fascinated scholars and believers alike — promises to offer a profound exploration of the life and times of Jesus of Nazareth.

The museum occupies an impressive 10,000 square feet and represents a collaborative project between Papaian Studios, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange, and Othonia Inc. With a construction cost of $5 million, the museum is set to provide an immersive journey for visitors, showcasing compelling evidence of what many believe to be the burial cloth of Christ.

A Journey Through History and Faith

Titled “The Shroud of Turin: An Immersive Experience,” the museum’s design draws inspiration from successful exhibitions like the “Van Gogh Exhibition” and “Immersive King Tut.” It will have visitors embark on a 90-minute historical journey that explores the life of Jesus, His suffering, resurrection, and the significance of the Shroud.

Guests can expect cutting-edge technology and engaging exhibits, including 360-degree projection rooms, interactive kiosks, lifelike replicas of the Shroud, and intricate artworks that transport visitors to the world of Jesus.

Upon entering, guests will first encounter the Welcome Hall, featuring an authentic replica of the Shroud approved by the archbishop in Turin. Here, they can examine the astonishing details of the cloth that bears the image of a crucified man, sharing a glimpse into one of history's greatest mysteries.

Immersive Theaters and Engaging Exhibits

After the Welcome Hall, guests will transition to the Prologue Hall, which will feature videos explaining the upcoming experience. Then, visitors will enjoy three immersive theater experiences. The first theater, focused on “Immersive Life of Jesus,” will recount twelve pivotal stories from Jesus' life with photo-realistic imagery.

The second experience, “Interactive Shroud of Jesus,” will take visitors into a life-size recreation of His tomb. In this room, guests will be treated to a documentary on the Shroud of Turin, presenting expert testimonies and evidence supporting its authenticity.

Finally, the third theater, “Immersive Risen Jesus,” will transport guests to a re-created ancient chapel, adorned with animated frescoes depicting pivotal post-Resurrection moments in the life of Jesus. This theatrical experience will culminate in an inquiry into the identity of the man of the Shroud, beckoning every visitor to reflect on who Jesus truly was.

Educational Opportunities

The museum is not solely for entertainment; it aims to function as a powerful evangelization tool. By promoting an ecumenical approach, the Shroud of Turin museum aspires to invite individuals from all walks of life — regardless of their faith background — to engage with the historical figure of Jesus.

Local educational officials, recognizing the potential impact of the museum, are working to integrate visits into the curriculum for seventh-grade students across the Diocese of Orange. This curriculum development is an essential step in helping future generations understand and appreciate the museum's significant role in both education and faith.

Tickets and Visitor Information

The Shroud of Turin museum will open seven days a week, with ticket prices set at $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $10 for children aged between 10 and 14. Due to the mature themes discussed, children under the age of 10 will not be permitted. Tickets can be purchased through the website TheShroudExperience.com.

While the actual Shroud of Turin will not be on display, as it remains housed in Italy, the museum promises to offer meticulously detailed replicas and kiosks, allowing visitors to closely study the Shroud’s fascinating features.

As the opening day approaches, excitement builds for what is anticipated to be an influential place of learning and reflection in Garden Grove, California. Discovering the mystery behind the Shroud of Turin is not merely about examining a piece of cloth — it is an exploration of faith, history, and spirituality, inviting all to seek answers about the identity of Jesus Christ. Join us for this transformative experience this November!
