Explore the ARTISANAL Exhibition in Daikanyama
An exciting exhibition titled
ARTISANAL is set to take place in Daikanyama, Tokyo, starting from
April 22 to April 26, 2026. This event will celebrate the creative journey of
Maison Martin Margiela, showcasing his craftsmanship through a carefully curated collection of his artisanal works. Organized by
The Chain Museum, the exhibition marks the launch of the much-anticipated archive book,
‘00 10’, featuring a stunning compilation of Margiela's work from 1989 to 2009.
What to Expect
The
ARTISANAL exhibition highlights approximately
50 selected pieces from the extensive archives documented in the new book
‘00 10’. This volume serves as a remarkable homage to Margiela’s innovative approach. By challenging conventional fashion systems, Margiela dedicated himself to respecting existing garments and their materials, transforming old fabrics into new masterpieces through dyeing and decorative techniques, thereby breathing new life into them.
Additionally, the exhibition includes creations curated by
Marina Yee, a fellow artist from the
Antwerp Six, who shared a notable friendship with Margiela. These pieces will provide attendees with a deeper insight into their collective aesthetics and the revolutionary art of fashion they championed.
Unique Experience in the Lab Space
A special section called the
Lab Space will feature around
70 artworks by Margiela. This interactive component allows visitors to physically engage with the pieces, experiencing elements like the internal structure, stitching, and intricate details firsthand. Each visitor will have an opportunity to appreciate and understand the depth of these artisanal creations in a tactile way.
