Strengthening Environmental Initiatives: MoU Between Environment Fund and Tanmiah Food Company

In a pivotal move for environmental sustainability, the Environment Fund and Tanmiah Food Company have formalized their commitment through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement aims to bolster collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing environmental initiatives and tree-planting programs within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The signing ceremony was attended by prominent figures such as H.E. Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen AlFadley, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, alongside H.E. Amr bin Abdullah Al-Dabbagh, Chairman of Al-Dabbagh Group.

This collaboration is set against the backdrop of Tanmiah Food Company’s ambitious "One Million Trees" initiative. Launched previously, this program has already achieved the plantation of over 550,000 trees, underscoring the company’s dedication to mitigating carbon emissions while promoting sustainability. The MoU signifies the continuation and expansion of these efforts, targeting the plantation of an additional 100,000 trees in Al-Ahsa as part of a SAR 2 million initiative.

The partnership is designed to further align with Saudi Arabia's national environmental objectives and the broader goals of the Saudi Green Initiative. Tanmiah Food's ongoing contributions underline its commitment to both corporate social responsibility and environmental stewardship. The MoU encompasses more than just tree planting; it includes collaboration on environmental research and studies, coordination of ecological programs, and participation in both local and international environmental initiatives and exhibitions under the Fund's guidance.

Munir Al-Sahli, Acting CEO of the Environment Fund, emphasized the importance of private sector participation in environmental action, stating, "Enabling the private sector and strengthening its role within environmental efforts is paramount for the Environment Fund. By fostering partnerships, we can effectively allocate resources toward projects aligned with national environmental objectives, advancing our collective commitment to a sustainable future as envisioned in Saudi Vision 2030."

Zein Mohammed Attar, Managing Director of Tanmiah Food Company, echoed this sentiment, remarking that environmental sustainability is integral to Tanmiah's operational philosophy. She pointed out that the MoU not only provides a framework for ongoing collaboration but also seeks to promote innovations and environmental technologies that enhance the company’s initiatives while supporting the Kingdom’s overarching environmental goals.

The agreement lays the groundwork for future collaborations, making way for new projects and financial commitments contingent on mutual agreements that adhere to approved procedures. This strategic alliance reinforces the importance of intertwining efforts between public entities and private sectors to generate meaningful, lasting impacts for the environment.
