Sunnoo Unveils Groundbreaking Renewable EV Charging Station in New Mexico
Sunnoo, a leading American clean energy innovator, has just launched its revolutionary EV charging station, a significant milestone that could reshape the electric vehicle landscape. This cutting-edge station is entirely powered by renewable energy, representing a breakthrough in the deployment of zero-emission charging infrastructures.
A Major Step Forward in Clean Transportation
On June 17, 2025, Sunnoo deployed its grid-independent, utility-patented EV charging station in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Designed to operate solely on solar power, this fully self-contained unit is set to transform how electric vehicles are charged, paving the way for a more sustainable future.
After six years of rigorous research and development, coupled with over 20,000 hours of component testing, this flagship charging station is now in its validation phase. It is strategically located outside Sunnoo's manufacturing facility in Las Cruces, ready for real-world performance evaluation.
CEO Chris Langathianos expressed enthusiasm about the launch, stating, "For the first time, our work is moving from concept and development into active, real-world use. The performance so far has met or exceeded expectations." As Sunnoo seeks to partner with entities to expand commercialization, it’s clear that the market is ripe for a clean, flexible, and fast charging solution.
Fast Deployment and No Permits Required
Unlike traditional EV infrastructure that usually takes 12 to 24 months to develop due to permitting and grid connections, Sunnoo’s system is designed for instant setup. Operating without permits, trenching, or utility access, this innovation can be rapidly delivered and installed in mere minutes, dramatically reducing barriers to EV infrastructure deployment.
Impressive Specifications
The charging station is equipped with a 6.5 kW bifacial solar array featuring a patented dual-axis tracking turret. This unique setup can capture 50-62% more energy than fixed arrays, with software-driven positioning that enhances energy capture daily. The station’s battery capacity can be configured between 24–100 kWh, with the pilot unit currently operational at 80 kWh. Moreover, it offers Level 2 charging via two NACS connectors, powered by a high-capacity 60A AC circuit, allowing for an impressive delivery of up to 42 miles of range per hour of charge.
For e-bikes or light electric vehicles, Sunnoo also includes an optional trickle charging outlet. The entire unit has a base footprint of 16 ft. x 8 ft., is engineered for all-season deployment, and maintains a low surface load, making it adaptable for various locations.
Looking Ahead
Following an essential field test period to gather performance data, the station will be moved to the Arrowhead Center at New Mexico State University. Here, it will provide clean, off-grid charging options for students, faculty, and visitors; a step towards promoting sustainable transportation within the community.
With the field testing results exceeding expectations, Sunnoo aims to attract partnerships across higher education, municipalities, and commercial fleets. This adaptability positions Sunnoo as a key player in the quest for scalable, clean charging infrastructures both in the U.S. and around the globe.
A Vision Realized
Founder and Chief Technology Officer Martin Gero reflected on the company’s journey, emphasizing, "Our mission has always been to eliminate the hurdles that delay EV adoption. By engineering a solution that delivers fast, sustainable charging without the delays of permitting and construction headaches, we’re committed to realizing a cleaner transportation future."
Sunnoo’s innovation has gained national recognition, having been featured on
The Blox, a popular entrepreneurship docuseries, where it stood out among over 150,000 applicants—it is a testament to the impact this technology could have on the market. The upcoming season of the show is slated to premiere in Summer 2025.
