MiTAC Computing Unveils Innovative OCP Servers
On April 29-30, 2025, at the OCP EMEA Summit held in Dublin, MiTAC Computing Technology made waves in the tech world by showcasing its cutting-edge OCP servers and advancements in open-source firmware. Known globally as a leader in high-performance and energy-efficient server solutions, MiTAC's participation in this seminal event underscored its commitment to contribute to data center innovations.
Launch of the New OCP Server Platforms
MiTAC introduced two new platforms, the
C2810Z5 and
C2820Z5, specifically designed for high-performance computing (HPC) and AI workloads. These platforms, built upon the latest
AMD EPYC™ 9005 series processors, promise both outstanding computational density and energy efficiency.
- - C2810Z5: This is a 2-node, single-socket 2OU server featuring 12 DDR5-6400 DIMMs per node, ideal for deploying microservices in cloud environments, delivering exceptional performance per watt.
- - C2820Z5: As a 4-node 2OU server with dual-socket capabilities, this model represents a leap in thermal design and sustainability. Leveraging direct liquid cooling technology, it not only reduces energy consumption but also noise levels while enhancing power utilization efficiency.
OpenBMC and Open Platform Innovations
In line with its dedication to transparency and open innovation, MiTAC provided live demonstrations of its
OpenBMC and
Open Platform software solutions during the Summit. These demonstrations highlighted the company’s profound expertise in integrating both hardware and software, a critical differentiator within the data center market.
The open-source firmware landscape is not just a passing trend—it’s integral to creating scalable and secure infrastructures. MiTAC’s firmware portfolio, constructed around OpenBMC and Open Platform, offers clients flexibility, transparency, and control with unified server management, shorter boot times, and enhanced stability achieved through genuine open-source innovations.
Introducing MiTAC Whitestone 2 for Edge Computing
Additionally, MiTAC showcased the
Whitestone 2 (WS2) server series, a compact yet powerful platform designed for ORAN CU/DU and Edge Computing applications. Supporting the scalable
Intel® Xeon® 4th generation processors, the WS2 features a shallow depth 1U enclosure, front-access design facilitating maintenance, and robust synchronization technologies, including
IEEE 1588 v2,
Sync-E, and
GPS—making it ideal for telecom and mobile deployments.
With extended operational temperature ranges, dual -48 VDC power supply inputs, and a built-in Intel Mount Bryce FEC accelerator, the WS2 reflects MiTAC’s ongoing contributions to the Open Compute Project community. It is perfectly positioned for deploying vRAN and O-RAN solutions, aligning seamlessly with the OCP's vision for open, flexible, and sustainable edge computing in the EMEA region.
