What is Mynavi Dance Alive?
Mynavi Dance Alive, which began in 2005 as Dance@Live, is the world's largest street dance battle featuring a 1-on-1 format. Dancers perform moves spontaneously against each other, following a track selected by a DJ known only to them. The winner is determined based on the number of votes cast by multiple judges.
The competition is divided into six categories, including five adult styles: House, Breaking, Hip-Hop, All Styles, and Popping. In addition, there's a separate category for kids, known as the Kids All Styles battle. The preliminaries are held across eight regions in Japan—Hokkaido, Tohoku, Hokuriku, Kanto, Chubu, Kansai, Chugoku, and Kyushu—providing an opportunity for young dancers to compete for spots in the final tournament held every April.
