RKKCS's Commitment to Social Contribution Through the Onigiri Action
RKKCS, a company based in Kumamoto, Japan, has announced its third consecutive sponsorship of the 'Onigiri Action 2026', a social contribution initiative organized by the non-profit organization TABLE FOR TWO International (TFT). This campaign runs from October 8 to November 17, 2026, and aims to tackle global food issues by contributing to school meal donations for children in Africa and Asia through social media engagement.
The Onigiri Action campaign encourages participants to share photos of onigiri—a traditional Japanese rice ball—on social media platforms like Instagram and X, tagging their posts with #OnigiriAction. For every photo submitted, sponsor companies donate funds that provide five school meals to children in need. During the last year's campaign, RKKCS engaged its employees in a program called "Furumai Onigiri," generating 115 submissions, and plans to conduct similar activities this year.
RKKCS has a sustainability statement: "Making people and towns happy," which reflects the company's commitment not just to its business operations but also to social responsibility and sustainability. In addition to the Onigiri Action initiative, RKKCS has implemented the "CUP FOR TWO Program". This program, integrated into the beverage vending machines at their headquarters, donates a school meal for every drink purchased.
What is the Onigiri Action?
The Onigiri Action, launched by TFT, is conducted to commemorate World Food Day, observed on October 16. This day highlights the importance of addressing food-related issues globally. The campaign has gained momentum each year, with this year marking its twelfth edition. Participants not only raise awareness about food problems but also align with their daily lives, making contribution easy and enjoyable.
In the previous year, over 280,000 photos were submitted during the campaign, with around 350,000 participants. The impact of their efforts translated into more than 1.16 million school meals provided to children in Africa and Asia, alongside financial assistance worth 1 million yen for Japanese children.
