Architectural Philosophy
The design team, led by Kume Sekkei, aimed to create a space where the interactions among children, teachers, and local residents can thrive. The centerpiece, named Komaki Mountain Step, incorporates libraries, workspaces, and terraces that encourage lively scenes of engagement among students. The architects envisioned this school environment not only as an educational facility but as a community hub that energizes both the school and the surrounding neighbourhood.
In the architect’s own words, “We are thrilled to receive this award, which highlights our efforts in creating a gathering place that connects the children with their teachers and the local community. We hope that this lively exchange will bring vitality to Komaki Minami.
