Duthie Power Services Welcomes Paul Lewis as New Safety and Quality Assurance Coordinator
Duthie Power Services is excited to announce that Paul Lewis has been appointed as the company’s new Safety and Quality Assurance Coordinator. Having served as a dedicated Field Technician for over eight years, Paul brings a wealth of field expertise and a strong commitment to safety, which will be crucial as he takes on his new role.
A Journey in the Field
Paul, a Southern California native, has accumulated thousands of miles on SoCal freeways, demonstrating his dedication as one of Duthie Power's Generator Experts. Starting his career as a welder and fabricator in the structural steel industry and later as a fitter in the aerospace sector, Paul entered Duthie with a humble beginning. He began as an oil changer, quickly advancing through the ranks due to his hard work and eagerness to learn.
Reflecting on his journey, he shares, "I started knowing just the basics, and all my knowledge came from hard work in the field." His proactive approach led him to pair up with senior technicians, ask questions on-site, and even reach out for troubleshooting advice when challenges arose. This dedication not only earned him the EGSA Journeyman Certification but also garnered positive feedback from countless customers during his tenure.
Embracing Variety in Work
What Paul enjoys most about working with commercial generators is the variety each day brings. “You’re never in the same spot every day,” he highlights. “I may work on similar equipment, but the location changes constantly, which keeps the job exciting.”
In his new role, Paul aims to enhance communication between field technicians, the office, and customers, with a strong emphasis on improving safety and customer connections.
Commitment to Quality Assurance
Duthie Power's Quality Assurance program, launched two years ago under Randy Gross, the Director of Operations, embodies the company's commitment to excellence. Notably, the company distinguishes itself by empowering field technicians to actively participate in quality checks. Rather than focusing solely on fault identification, the initiative emphasizes recognition and growth within the team.
As part of this program:
- - New technicians receive job sample reviews within their first 90 days.
- - All technicians undergo multiple QA evaluations annually.
- - Corrective feedback is communicated directly to leadership to ensure support and development.
- - QA successes are celebrated at safety meetings to bolster morale and share best practices.
Paul's recent promotion is a testament to this culture of continuous improvement and shared success. As Randy Gross states, "Paul has proven himself time and again in the field. He started from the ground up, mastered each technical level, and always prioritized safety and quality. His unique ability to connect with both technicians and customers makes him an ideal fit to elevate our QA program and strengthen internal communication."
Life Outside of Work
Beyond the professional sphere, Paul is an enthusiast of the great outdoors, indulging in activities like camping and off-roading. His adventurous spirit shines through, with a particular passion for driving Sand Drag vehicles.
