Goodwill Industries Launches New Rotary Club of Goodwill

Goodwill Industries of Eastern North Carolina (GIENC®) has taken a significant step in enhancing community engagement by launching the Rotary Club of Goodwill for Eastern North Carolina. With a focus on the Rotary International principle of 'Service Above Self,' the club has quickly initiated its first project: a Rotary Service Challenge aimed at addressing the pressing issue of food insecurity within the community.

The establishment of this new club aligns seamlessly with the core values and mission of both Rotary International and GIENC. Both organizations strive to create positive change through education, employment, and initiatives that enrich the lives of individuals across Eastern North Carolina. This partnership is poised to empower GIENC employees and local partners to step into leadership roles while making a significant impact in their communities.

Christopher Hash, President and CEO of GIENC, emphasized the importance of innovation in their approach. "Innovation is one of our core values. The Rotary Club of Goodwill complements GIENC's strategic goal of extending its services to individuals and communities throughout the region. Jeff Blass, District Governor of Rotary District 7710, expressed excitement about this partnership. He noted that collaborating with other organizations is crucial for maximizing their impact. In line with its mission, the Rotary Club of Goodwill has already launched a Rotary Service Challenge that allocates $2,250 in food vouchers to 48 Rotary Clubs within District 7710. This initiative will enable Rotarians to work together to provide meals and necessary supplies to individuals and families facing food insecurity. It's a practical step towards alleviating immediate hardships while simultaneously raising awareness about food insecurity issues.

Moreover, the Rotary Service Challenge aims to foster continuous community service among Rotarians. This initiative not only aims to deliver immediate relief but also reinforces the core Rotary values—service, fellowship, and leadership—by encouraging members to deepen their relationships with their communities.
