U-GAKU’s New Eiken Preparation Course in Okinawa
Crepity, based in Tokyo and led by President Katsuya Ikukumo, has unveiled a new English proficiency test preparation program, U-GAKU, aimed at supporting Japanese students in mastering both the Eiken exam and practical English skills. Set against the beautiful backdrop of Okinawa, this program is tailored for middle and high school students who aim to achieve Eiken levels 3 and 2 through a concentrated 5-night, 6-day camp experience.
Program Highlights
The Eiken preparation course, commencing on December 25, 2025, aims to offer students a comprehensive and immersive environment where they can develop essential skills for the examination while enhancing their overall English proficiency. Unlike traditional classroom-based Eiken preparations, which often emphasize rote learning, U-GAKU focuses on practical application and interaction within an English-rich setting. This unique approach integrates intensive lessons with activities led by native speakers, emphasizing the four crucial language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
Rationale Behind the Course Launch
The Eiken exam remains one of the most recognized English language qualifications in Japan, often used for entrance exams, study abroad opportunities, and job applications. According to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the number of schools adopting external assessment tests has been steadily increasing, making Eiken an essential motivator for middle and high school students.
U-GAKU aims to pivot away from the overly theoretical focus of conventional Eiken studies. Considering the growing importance of real-world communication, especially in scenarios like interviews, the new course is designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical speaking abilities.

This minimizes travel and safety concerns while still facilitating significant learning outcomes akin to traditional overseas experiences. This program has garnered strong support from parents, ensuring a safe environment for minors.
2.

The objective of U-GAKU is not just passing the Eiken exam. The program prioritizes the development of skills necessary for international experiences, university studies abroad, and career growth.
