Patrick Mullane Promoted to President and CEO of Center for Creative Leadership

Center for Creative Leadership Welcomes Patrick Mullane as New President and CEO

The Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) has officially appointed Patrick Mullane as its President and Chief Executive Officer, effective November 6, 2026. Mullane succeeds Martin Schneider, who recently retired after nearly four successful years in the role. This leadership shift comes at a pivotal moment, as organizations around the world increasingly recognize the critical importance of effective leadership in navigating complex challenges.

Mullane brings a wealth of experience to his new position, including nearly 11 years at Harvard Business School, where he most recently served as the Executive Director of the Harvard Business School Online Executive Education. In this capacity, he was instrumental in expanding online educational programs that cater to leaders striving for enhanced effectiveness without necessarily pursuing formal degrees. Mullane's early career saw him as an officer in the United States Air Force, followed by a successful track record as an entrepreneur and senior operational manager.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the position, Mullane stated, “I firmly believe that exceptional leadership is one of the rarest and most valuable resources in the world. This conviction is what drew me to CCL. Good leadership can shape organizational culture, enhance performance, and maintain stability during turbulent times.” CCL collaborates with a wide array of organizations globally to nurture such leadership qualities.

Peter Richardson, Chair of the CCL Board of Directors, expressed excitement over the appointment, highlighting Mullane’s strategic vision and deep expertise in leadership education. “Patrick combines strategic vision with a passion for developing leaders who can create real change. He is ready to collaborate with our teams and clients to build on CCL’s success and continue our mission,” Richardson declared.

Mullane's induction into the leadership role coincides with an era of rapid technological advancements and growing economic and geopolitical complexities that demand new competencies from leaders. In response to these changing demands, CCL is investing in services tailored to equip leaders with the necessary skills to thrive.

Recently launched initiatives include ‘Succession Reimagined,’ a program focused on executive succession planning rooted in research findings, and ‘My Studio™,’ an AI-powered environment aimed at leadership development. My Studio™ integrates with the CCL Passport™ platform, facilitating quicker program creation and evaluation tailored to the specific needs of client organizations.

Mullane pointed out, “Quality leadership has never been more critical, and CCL has an extraordinary opportunity to assist a broader spectrum of leaders in managing substantial changes and adeptly guiding their teams through an ever-evolving landscape.” He looks forward to leveraging nearly 60 years of top-tier research and the existing CCL framework to further extend its impact in the leadership development arena.

Academically, Mullane holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Notre Dame, a Master’s in Project and Systems Management from Golden Gate University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is relocating from Boston to Greensboro, North Carolina, where he will oversee CCL’s global headquarters.

CCL operates on the belief that an organization’s greatest strength lies in its people. With nearly six decades of expertise and research, CCL partners with organizations worldwide to develop leadership capabilities and cultivate environments where leaders can effectively guide others. Their tailored solutions encompass leadership development programs, open enrollment educational courses, individualized executive coaching, assessment tools, and comprehensive organizational leadership development services, with a clientele spanning North America, Europe, India, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.

As Mullane steps into this new role, the prospects for innovative leadership solutions at CCL look promising, positioning the organization at the forefront of evolving leadership paradigms in a rapidly changing world.
