Ardagh Metal Packaging's 2025 Sustainability Report: Milestones in Environmental Responsibility

In an essential stride towards environmental stewardship, Ardagh Metal Packaging (AMP) has unveiled its much-anticipated 2025 Sustainability Report. The report encapsulates AMP's commitment to sustainability while showcasing impressive financial performance amidst a challenging market landscape. With over 3% growth in sales volume year-on-year, AMP has demonstrated resilience and a proactive approach in the quest for sustainable packaging solutions.

Commitment to Renewable Energy
One of the most significant achievements highlighted in the report is AMP’s increase in renewable electricity usage, which reached 47% globally—up 17% compared to the previous year. The regional progress is commendable, with Europe achieving a remarkable 61%, North America at 20%, and South America achieving full coverage at 100% renewable electricity. This improvement underscores AMP's dedication to reducing its carbon footprint and reliance on conventional energy sources.

Reduction in Emissions
The report also outlines AMP’s advances in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction. The company achieved an 18% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions compared to the previous year, representing a 16% decrease against the 2020 baseline. Moreover, Scope 3 emissions have seen an 18% reduction from 2020, significantly exceeding their 2030 target of 12.3%. These strides reflect AMP's overall commitment to sustainability and their strategic governance model aimed at long-term ecological targets.

Circular Economy Milestones
A noteworthy highlight is AMP's focus on circularity. The average recycled content in the aluminium beverage cans has reached an impressive 76%, rising from 64% just two years earlier. This achievement embodies an essential aspect of AMP's mission—promoting recycling and reducing the demand for raw materials in can production. Complementing this is the company’s commitment to achieving 100% Zero Waste to Landfill across all facilities, showcasing AMP’s dedication to minimizing waste generation and maximizing resource use.

Social Responsibility Initiatives
In conjunction with environmental initiatives, AMP emphasizes the importance of social responsibility. The company has invested heavily in employee development, providing nearly 9,500 training sessions and conducting over 10,000 technical training assessments. Furthermore, community involvement programs such as biodiversity initiatives, recycling projects, and the Ardagh for Education initiative, which has engaged more than 110,000 students globally, illustrate the company’s commitment to positive social impact.

Recognition and Future Outlook
AMP's dedication to sustainability and ethical governance has been recognized through attaining EcoVadis Platinum status, placing AMP among the top 1% of companies globally. According to Oliver Graham, CEO of AMP, the 2025 Sustainability Report underscores the belief that business growth can coexist harmoniously with sustainable practices. "As the demand for aluminum beverage packaging continues to rise, we are committed to reducing environmental impacts while focusing on circularity and transparency throughout our value chain," he stated.

With this report, AMP not only reaffirms its dedication to sustainability but also prepares for its 2026 Communication on Progress to the UN Global Compact, ensuring that it remains at the forefront of sustainable practices in the packaging industry.
