A Groundbreaking Inter-Continental Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design and Business
In an exciting development for aspiring fashion professionals, LIM College has announced a new Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program in Fashion Design and Business. This innovative program, set to launch in Fall 2027, is developed in collaboration with ESMOD Paris, the world's first fashion school, renowned for its focus on fashion design education. This degree offers a unique opportunity for U.S.-based students to study in two of the globe's most significant fashion hubs: New York and Paris.
Program Structure
The BBA in Fashion Design and Business program is structured to provide an immersive educational experience over four years. Students will spend the first year at LIM College in New York, focusing on fashion business principles while completing their first mandatory internship. Following this, students will travel to Paris for two years where they will study fashion design at ESMOD. In their final year, they will return to New York to complete their studies in business courses and present a personalized capsule collection, reflecting their learning throughout the program.
LIM College President Ron Marshall emphasized the significance of this program: "New York is recognized as the worldwide center of fashion commerce and business innovation. Paris has a long-standing reputation as the global epicenter for fashion design. With this degree, students no longer have to choose between the two; they can have both."
Comprehensive Curriculum
Both educational institutions aim to equip students with competencies essential for success in today's dynamic fashion industry. The curriculum is designed to blend creative fashion design with robust business education. At ESMOD, students will take essential courses in Patternmaking, Fashion Design, Digital Tools, and AI Creative Development. Meanwhile, at LIM, they will delve into courses such as Design Merchandising Management, Product Development, and Marketing.
A unique component of this program includes language education. Students will engage in a French language course in New York and a business-oriented French course while in Paris, enhancing their global communication skills.
Career Opportunities and Industry Demand
Graduates of this program will be prepared for various roles within the fashion industry, including positions as fashion designers, technical designers, and CAD artists. With the combination of business knowledge, they will also be well-equipped to pursue entrepreneurial ventures or advance towards senior roles such as creative director or product manager.
This program addresses the industry's increasing demands for professionals who can fluidly navigate both the creative and commercial aspects of fashion. The goal is to cultivate future leaders who understand the interplay between design and business strategy, essential for starting their own brands or contributing to established fashion houses.
Admissions and Future Prospects
For prospective students interested in applying for the BBA program, the admissions requirements include reaching a minimum GPA of 3.0 and completing a creative concept exercise, along with an in-person interview. Applications for Fall 2027 are being accepted now.
This collaboration between LIM College and ESMOD Paris reflects a proactive approach to education in fashion design and business. As the fashion landscape continues to evolve, this intercontinental program prepares students for the future, setting them on a path to success in a competitive industry while fostering creativity and entrepreneurial skill sets.
