GODA BRIDGE Koi Nobori Parade: Celebrating Spring and Tradition in Ibaraki City

Discover the Joy of Spring: GODA BRIDGE Koi Nobori Parade

Ibaraki City is set to welcome spring with an engaging event that connects the community and celebrates tradition: the "GODA BRIDGE Koi Nobori Parade". From April 1st to May 6th, 2026, the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in Japan, GODA BRIDGE, will showcase beautifully donated Koi Nobori, or carp streamers, that symbolize the growth and wishes for children.

The event encourages local residents to donate unused Koi Nobori that once adorned their homes in celebration of children’s growth. As the donated decorations flow gracefully in the winds above the waters of the Aigawa Dam, visitors are invited to cross the bridge, enjoy a unique spectacle, and experience a piece of traditional Japanese culture in a natural setting that remains rich in scenery.

Highlights of the Event

During the Golden Week from April 29 to May 6, children up to elementary school age who cross the bridge will receive a commemorative sticker celebrating their experience at the "Japan’s Longest Suspension Bridge" (limited to the first 2,000 children). The bridge will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and an entrance fee of 1,650 yen (tax included) is required to walk across the bridge. Witnessing the Koi Nobori soaring in the breeze is sure to be a memorable experience.

Delicious Local Treats

At the 420 STORE within GRAVITATE OSAKA, visitors can indulge in seasonal treats made from sweet strawberries sourced from local farms. Among the offerings are the creamy "Strawberry Milk Frappe" and the delightful "Ginger Parfait with Strawberry and Spice," each complemented by refreshing drinks like the "Lemonade Squash". The café, offering a serene environment, is an excellent place for health-conscious visitors and those seeking relaxation away from their daily routine.

Exciting Live Music Events

Adding to the vibrancy of the spring festival, the "GRAVITATESOUNDS’26 Golden Week Live Stage" will take place from May 4 to May 6, featuring local musicians performing amidst the beautiful backdrop of nature. The event is free, and organizers welcome artists of all genres who wish to participate.
