BIC Launches National Campaign to Support Education
BIC, a dominant player in the stationery sector, recently introduced the "Bring Joy, BIC to School" campaign. This innovative initiative is designed to help under-resourced classrooms as we approach the upcoming school year. The campaign commenced during Teacher Appreciation Week (May 4-8) and outlines a strategic partnership with the Kids In Need Foundation (KINF) and Walmart, emphasizing the significance of supporting educators and students alike.
Addressing the School Supply Gap
A staggering statistic indicates that up to 97% of teachers dip into their personal finances for classroom supplies each year. BIC's campaign aims to alleviate this burden while also enhancing the learning experience for students. The initiative encourages parents and shoppers to actively participate in solving this issue. As part of this, BIC has launched the
"Give a BIC, Buy a BIC" program; this is where each purchase of BIC pens will result in donations of school supplies to teachers in need. The goal is to distribute a substantial minimum of 3 million writing instruments through KINF this year.
Strategic Partnerships
BIC’s collaboration with KINF not only aims to provide essential supplies but also furthers the
Supply A Teacher Program (SAT). This initiative is set to deliver over 10,000 curated supply boxes that will equip educators across the nation for an entire semester. The boxes will include practical items such as notebooks, rulers, and various writing instruments to ensure teachers have the essential tools they require.
Engaging Retail Initiatives
In addition, BIC’s efforts do not stop at merely providing supplies. They are working alongside key retail partners to create various engaging opportunities for shoppers to support local schools. One exciting aspect is the
Walmart Teacher Shopping Spree Sweepstakes, in which community members can nominate their favorite teachers for a chance to win grants and shopping sprees of up to $10,000 for classroom supplies.
Moreover, through the
Clear the List Sweepstakes, BIC is facilitating a digital shopping experience. Shoppers are encouraged to submit their preferred educators via BIC2School.com, leading to selections of 20 teachers who will receive up to $500 in supplies. This digital approach not only supports teachers but streamlines the process of fulfilling their supply lists from major retailers such as Walmart and Amazon.
A Continued Commitment to Education
BIC's commitment to education is profound. As articulated by Haven Cockerham, the Chief Commercial Officer of BIC North America, “Bring Joy, BIC to School” demonstrates the company's dedication to supporting educators who are often forced to fund classroom essentials. By aligning with foundations like KINF and working with industry partners, BIC seeks to ensure that school supplies find their way to the hands of those who need them most, thereby allowing students to concentrate on learning.
Furthermore, later this summer, BIC intends to carry out a national mobile activation. This event will bring BIC’s recognizable products directly to communities, reaching places where joy and resources are most needed.
Corey Gordon, CEO of KINF, emphasized the stress alleviated for teachers when they receive essential supplies, stating that it allows them to focus on delivering quality education effectively. The synergy between BIC's resources and KINF's mission is an exemplary model of how corporate partnerships can create impactful solutions for educational equity.
The
Bring Joy, BIC to School campaign represents an extension of BIC's global commitment to education and KINF's efforts to establish equitable learning environments for all. Prioritizing schools where a significant portion of students qualify for free or reduced meals assures that every child has access to the necessary resources for a confident and empowered educational experience.
