Exploring the Impact of eSports on Regional Revitalization Efforts in Japan

Exploring the Impact of eSports on Regional Revitalization Efforts in Japan

On September 18th, Creek and River Co., Ltd. (C&R) will host an enlightening online seminar titled "Independent Director Mikio Sugiuara Discusses Art, Content, and Regional Revitalization Series Vol. 25: eSports for Regional Revitalization - Expansion in Various Fields and Future Potential." This event will focus on the growing significance of cultural policies and content-driven initiatives in revitalizing local communities across Japan.

In recent years, local governments and regional companies have increasingly turned to art and content as a means to boost regional vitality. However, many stakeholders struggle with issues such as effectively demonstrating the impact of cultural policies and navigating varying levels of understanding among municipal staff and local residents. C&R aims to address these challenges by providing a platform for both government officials who are new to cultural initiatives and creators seeking to propose relevant content to municipalities.

This seminar series features independent director Mikio Sugiuara engaging with diverse guests from the forefront of the arts and culture sectors. Through discussions, they will unpack the strategies for formulating, implementing, and assessing cultural policies with a focus on regional revitalization.

Special Guest: Shota Tanimoto

For this session, we are pleased to welcome Shota Tanimoto, the president of the Wakayama eSports Union (WeSU) and the representative of the professional eSports team "Wakayama Indomitable Panda (WIP)." Tanimoto will share insights on how eSports is deeply rooted in the community while also reaching a global audience. He will discuss the potentials of eSports across various domains and how it can contribute to regional revitalization.

In a world where eSports enjoys growing popularity among players and fans alike, it offers an inclusive platform that transcends age, gender, nationality, and disabilities. eSports has the potential to foster intergenerational and international exchanges, as well as serve as a powerful tool for regional revitalization. We encourage those interested to join us for this event.
