San Antonio Celebrates Spirit Season: A Month-Long Dia de los Muertos Festivity
This October, San Antonio will transform into a colorful hub of cultural celebration, marking the arrival of Spirit Season, a month-long series of events dedicated to Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). From October 3 to November 14, 2025, the city will host over two dozen interactive and artistic events aimed at honoring the traditions, rituals, and memories of those who have passed on.
Vibrant Events Fill the Calendar
San Antonio has the unique distinction of hosting the largest Día de los Muertos festivities in the United States, drawing in both locals and tourists alike. The heart of the event will be the Dia de los Muertos Festival at Hemisfair, also known as Muertos Fest, which expects to welcome over 100,000 attendees. This free festival will feature five stages of live performances, art installations, and artisan markets celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the Latino community.
Visitors can also anticipate the Day of the Dead River Parade on October 24, a stunning spectacle where illuminated barges drift gracefully along the River Walk, paying homage to the deceased in a display of lights and creativity.
