RS Achieves Full Marks on Human Rights Campaign's CEI 2025
In a significant milestone for workplace equality, RS, a global provider of industrial products and services, has garnered a perfect score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's 2025 Corporate Equality Index (CEI). This prestigious recognition places RS among the ranks of leaders promoting LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion, amidst a growing list of over 1,400 participating businesses across the United States.
The Corporate Equality Index, an annual assessment conducted by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, evaluates corporate policies and practices contributing to LGBTQ+ workplace equality. This year, RS joins 765 other distinguished companies honored with the Equality 100 Award for exemplifying outstanding inclusivity.
D'Mar Phillips, Vice President of People and Culture for RS Americas, expressed the company’s pride in receiving this award, stating, "We are thrilled to have earned our first Equality 100 Award. Achieving a perfect score reflects our successful efforts in expanding policies and benefits aimed at supporting our LGBTQ+ employees. Creating an inclusive workplace is essential for our success."
RS’s commitment to diversity is backed by their actions; over the past years, they have enhanced their policies to ensure all team members feel respected, represented, and heard. The culture at RS fosters an environment where individuals are encouraged to bring their authentic selves to work, which Phillips notes is integral to cultivating an exceptional workplace.
The CEI serves not just as a metric but as a beacon guiding businesses toward transparency and promoting equitable workplaces. RaShawn "Shawnie" Hawkins, Senior Director of Workplace Equality at HRCF, emphasizes the role of the CEI as a tool for advancing diversity and inclusivity, especially in an evolving corporate landscape. Year-on-year participation growth in the CEI showcases a business community increasingly committed to equity and inclusion.
This year's CEI results stand out, with a record 98% of participating companies offering non-discrimination protections specifically related to gender identity. This growth marks a significant shift towards prioritizing the well-being of over 22 million U.S. workers, including those within major publicly traded companies and respected law firms.
The assessment criteria of the CEI delve into four main areas:
1. Non-discrimination policies across business entities.
2. Equitable benefits for LGBTQ+ workers and their families.
3. Supporting an inclusive culture.
4. Corporate social responsibility.
By focusing on these core areas, the CEI aims to help businesses not only expand their consumer base but also attract innovative talent by demonstrating commitment to the LGBTQ+ community.
