August 2025 Bossjob Registration Report

Yolo Technology Inc., the company behind the global job platform Bossjob, has released insights into the trends of newly registered companies and job seekers in Japan for August 2025. During this month, there was a noticeable increase in interest in IT professionals, although job seekers have shown a broader range of career aspirations, moving towards management, hospitality, and specialized fields. This shift clearly illustrates the evolving career aspirations and skills diversity among foreign job seekers.

Company Registrations: IT Leads, But Diverse Industries Are Hiring

When analyzing the new registrations from companies, the “Information and Communication (IT)” sector accounted for 46.0%, continuing its dominance due to stable demand for foreign IT professionals. However, there has been significant growth in registrations from various fields, including “Retail (17%)”, “Machinery (13%)”, and “Manufacturing (8%)”. The increase in registrations from industries that were less prominent in the previous month indicates an expanding landscape where foreign talent is being utilized beyond just IT.

Foreign talent acquisition has diversified to include sectors such as retail, manufacturing, and machinery, as well as specialized fields like “Semiconductors”, “Chemical Products”, and “Finance”. This trend underscores the deepening penetration of Bossjob as a platform addressing the recruitment challenges across various industries.

Additionally, project manager roles have also increased from 1.0% to 5.0%, reflecting a growing need for management positions to oversee engineering teams.

Other steady roles include those in sales (11%), creative (5%), and administrative (4%) sectors, indicating that companies are beginning to tap into foreign talent for a wider range of positions. Notably, craft and skill-oriented jobs such as caregiving, customer service, and sales are progressively making their mark, each maintaining around 3% of the listings. Moreover, niche skill roles in driving, maintenance, welding, and cooking have emerged with each accounting for about 1%, suggesting targeted manpower needs within certain industries.

Job Seekers: Notable Increase in IT Engineer Aspirations

Analysis shows that the demand for IT engineer positions among job seekers has surged to 23%, a significant leap from 17.7% in the previous month. This rise demonstrates a growing interest among foreign job seekers in Japan’s IT sector, aligning well with the corresponding job market trends. Additionally, there’s been a noticeable increase in career aspirations towards back-office roles such as administrative (15%) and marketing (10%), with marketing positions seeing a spike from 2.3% last month to 10%, indicating heightened interest in roles that leverage digital skills and social media experience.

Conversely, there’s been a decline in the preference for light work roles, dropping from 12.7% to 5%. This suggests that job seekers are increasingly inclined towards positions that demand more specialization and career orientation. Popular job sectors include tourism and hospitality (9%), education (5%), and creative (5%), reaffirming the ongoing demand for language proficiency and customer service skills.

Diverse Aspirations Among Job Seekers

Additionally, candidates are showing interest in technical and specialized roles such as electrical and mechanical engineers (4%), project managers (3%), trade (2%), and pharmacists (1%), indicating a broadening of their career aspirations. This reflects a trend where foreign talent is not just seeking employment but actively pursuing roles where they can utilize their experience and expertise.

Overall, August has marked a pivotal month in which the interest towards IT professionals has intensified, while aspirations have expanded into management, hospitality, and specialized fields, highlighting the evolving career ambitions and skills diversification of foreign job seekers.
