VinFast Unveils the Next-Generation VF 8

VinFast has taken a monumental step forward in the electric vehicle industry by officially unveiling its new-generation VF 8, a D-segment electric SUV designed to provide a superior driving experience. The vehicle, which was developed by VinFast's in-house engineering team, boasts an array of technological upgrades that enhance both convenience and performance.

The VF 8 embodies a blend of sophisticated design with advanced technology. Built on the innovative "Tech Fluid" philosophy, it integrates technology with everyday usability, emphasizing seamless interaction, refinement, and a dynamic aesthetic. Its dimensions measure 4,701 mm in length, 1,872 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height, complemented by a spacious cabin that offers five seats. With a wheelbase of 2,840 mm and a ground clearance of 170 mm, the vehicle is adept at navigating various driving conditions, aided by stylish 19-inch wheels.

Design and Comfort

The front of the VF 8 is striking, showcasing VinFast's hallmark wide gloss-black grille and distinctive wing-shaped daytime running lights. Additionally, large air intakes on either side of the bumper not only enhance aerodynamic efficiency but also add to the vehicle’s visual appeal.

As we move to the side view, the window line elegantly rises toward the rear, imparting a sense of motion even while stationary. Door panels feature smooth transitions and defined character lines, creating shifting reflections as the vehicle moves. The minimalist rear design comes with large taillights and VinFast's signature V-shaped LED strip, boosting both the aesthetics and the aerodynamic performance of the vehicle.

Inside the VF 8, an intuitive layout greets passengers. The centerpiece is a 12.9-inch infotainment display that centralizes most vehicle controls in a user-friendly format, setting a new standard for in-car technology. Behind the steering wheel, a secondary display provides critical driving information, while a steering-column-mounted gear selector enhances ease of use. Passenger comfort is prioritized with features like dual-zone automatic climate control, air ionization, and an advanced eight-speaker audio system for entertainment on the go.

Advanced Technology and Performance

When it comes to performance, the VF 8 is built on a newly developed chassis equipped with Frequency Selective Dampers (FSD), which adjust damping characteristics for a smoother ride. This system significantly enhances comfort by counteracting road imperfections without sacrificing vehicle stability.

The vehicle’s electrical and electronic architecture is also innovative, based on the Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) model. Central to this architecture is the Central Vehicle Computer (CVC), which efficiently manages data processing and vehicle control functions, ensuring quick and smooth responses to driver inputs.

The VF 8 is powered by an electric motor generating 170 kW (228 horsepower) and peak torque of 330 Nm. It offers three driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport, paired with a 60.13 kWh battery capable of a driving range of up to 500 km on a full charge. Additionally, its fast-charging capability allows for a rapid charge from 10% to 70% in under 30 minutes.

An integrated thermal management system further enhances performance by efficiently controlling the battery, motor, electrical system, and cabin climate, maintaining stability and durability under varied conditions.

Safety Features

Safety is paramount in the VF 8, which is equipped with a comprehensive Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). This system includes features like Highway Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Keeping Assist, along with a high-definition 360-degree camera for greater safety. The vehicle's structure and safety technologies aim to meet the rigorous ASEAN NCAP 5-star safety standards.

VinFast plans to begin pre-orders for the new-generation VF 8 in Vietnam from May 27, 2026, with a starting price of VND 999 million. The vehicle will come with a generous seven-year warranty, and deliveries are expected to commence in late July 2026.

As the world moves towards electrification, VinFast continues to solidify its place within the automotive landscape, underscored by the launch of the VF 8. This model not only showcases the company's technological prowess but also heralds a new chapter in sustainable transportation.
