Exclusive Cultural Course Report at Ginza Koju with SAKE Awards Winning Sake

Discovering Japanese Culinary Excellence at Ginza Koju

In a delightful celebration of art and taste, Diners Club recently organized a unique cultural course at the renowned Ginza Koju, a well-respected establishment in Tokyo's culinary scene. This exclusive two-day event took place on June 13 and 14, 2025, inviting only 16 guests to indulge in the exquisite flavors of the season and savor award-winning sake.

Diners Club, a prestigious credit card issuer, has continuously embraced the richness of Japanese culture through their cultural program, "Diners Club Culture Lab," encouraging members to explore, learn, and experience diverse cultural offerings. Since 2016, they have also awarded the "Young Talent Encouragement Award" at the SAKE Competition, a nod to their commitment to promoting fine sake.

This year, the award was presented to the talented Nanami Watanabe from Shinzawasyuzo Co., Ltd. in Miyagi Prefecture, marking a significant moment to celebrate through this exclusive event. The atmosphere was invigorated by the engaging commentary from the staff and the sake experts, including the owner of Ginza Koju, Tohru Okuda, who was committed to ensuring an exceptional experience.

Participants were treated to local specialties, including the notable grilled sweetfish – a true delicacy of early summer. After an hour of the sweet fish grilling to perfection, the aroma filled the air, creating an enticing environment that made it hard for everyone to resist. The highlight was the serving of a dark beer, personally recommended by Mr. Okuda, which paired splendidly with the sweetfish, creating a blissful tasting experience.

Feedback from guests showcased their appreciation for the unique combination of a hard-to-book restaurant and rare sake. One guest in his 50s remarked, "I felt a sense of exclusivity with the pairing of Ginza Koju's elusive reservations and the unique sake." Another participant, a man in his 60s, appreciated the private counter setting, stating, "The counter exclusivity made it truly special." Participants were also delighted to receive a souvenir of premium white rice, which was well-received given the season.

Additionally, Diners Club has been hosting several other exciting cultural courses, including workshops on utilizing Mercari effectively for sustainable living and health seminars led by wellness industry leaders. Each session has fostered a lively atmosphere, enabling participants to exchange information and connect over shared interests.

The popular "Visiting Embassies" series continues to attract attention. The upcoming event in July will feature a visit to the Laos Embassy, where attendees will learn about Laos’ culture and history while enjoying traditional cuisine. This initiative emphasizes Diners Club's pledge to promote cultural exchange and foster connections between Japan and the rest of the world.

Diners Club recognizes that true enrichment comes through experiences, and with their slogan, “There are things that can only be discovered here,” they seek to provide members with unparalleled opportunities beyond standard card services. Gaining insights and building relationships in a personal setting has never been more important, especially in today’s fast-paced digital age.

With continued efforts in curating unique courses and experiences, Diners Club strives to ignite its members' intellectual curiosity while delivering high-quality events that inspire and inform. Those interested in joining this exclusive club can take advantage of their promotional offer that includes free first-year membership fees and bonus points to enhance their credit experience further.
