Supermicro Unveils Next-Gen AI Solutions Optimized for Edge Performance
Supermicro, Inc., a prominent IT solution provider, has showcased its latest array of innovative systems designed to enhance performance and efficiency for AI applications at the edge. This new generation of servers leverages Intel's state-of-the-art Xeon 6 processors, which enable businesses to handle real-time AI inference effectively across various industries. These systems come with robust capabilities tailored to meet the rising demand for edge computing solutions.
Cutting-Edge Technology and Features
Charles Liang, the president and CEO of Supermicro, emphasized the crucial role of reliability and compact design in their new edge servers, which are aimed at processing data at the edge in real-time is essential as the demand for Edge AI solutions escalates. “Our latest generation of edge servers deliver advanced AI capabilities for enhanced efficiency and decision-making close to where the data is generated,” he stated.
The new SYS-112D series servers, equipped with the Intel Xeon 6 SoC processors, marked a significant leap in performance and efficiency. These servers can support up to 144 CPU cores and offer over 40% more memory bandwidth than previous models, rendering them ideal for a multitude of applications such as telecommunications, networking, and content delivery networks (CDN).
Among the notable features of the SYS-112D-36C-FN3P model is its configuration of 36 P-cores, dual 100 GbE QSFP28 ports, and support for up to 512GB of DDR5 memory, further augmented by a PCIe 5.0 FHFL slot for graphics processing units (GPUs) or other add-on cards. This model is ideally suited for media workloads alongside Edge AI, enabling efficient data processing and analysis in space-constrained environments.
Another variation, the SYS-112D-42C-FN8P, is specifically designed for telecommunication needs, featuring eight 25GbE ports and built-in GNSS and time-sync technologies—making it a comprehensive solution for diverse RAN network workloads.
Optimized Systems for IoT and AI
Supermicro has also revealed two additional compact systems, the SYS-E201-14AR and SYS-E300-14AR, which incorporate the 15th Gen Intel® Core™ Ultra processors for IoT and AI inferencing applications at the far edge. With up to 24 cores and an onboard NPU (Neural Processing Unit) AI accelerator, these systems promise to effectively handle enterprise edge use cases. They are equipped with multiple connectivity options, including HDMI, Display, and USB ports, to ensure compatibility across various enterprise applications.
Enhanced Edge Data Center Capabilities
In the realm of edge data centers, Supermicro's systems can now be installed with the newly launched Intel Xeon 6700/6500 series processors, designed to achieve a balance between performance and efficiency. These processors provide an average of 1.4 times better performance compared to their predecessors, ensuring that Supermicro’s 2U Edge AI product family maintains high performance in demanding environments. Systems like the SYS-212B-FLN2T can accommodate up to six GPU accelerators, maintaining its compact design while enhancing processing capabilities.
Visit Us at Embedded World
For those interested in exploring these advancements further, Supermicro will be present at Embedded World, booth #208 in Hall #1, from March 11–13. There, attendees can witness firsthand the remarkable efficiency and capability of the new edge servers.
