Mazda Reports Impressive Sales Surge in May 2026
Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) has recently unveiled its sales results for May 2026, showcasing an impressive total of 39,066 vehicles sold. This figure marks a substantial 35% increase compared to May 2025, highlighting Mazda's robust performance in a competitive market. Throughout the year thus far, the total sales have reached 164,667 vehicles, albeit showing a 6.9% decline when juxtaposed with the same period last year.
Interestingly, despite only 26 selling days in May 2026, one less than the previous year, the daily sales rate (DSR) soared by 40.2%. In terms of certified pre-owned vehicles, Mazda also recorded a 7.2% increase, with 7,992 units sold this May.
Noteworthy Highlights
The sales statistics revealed several noteworthy highlights for Mazda. This month represented the highest total sales since July 2025. Additionally, it marked the best sales month on record for the hybrid CX-50. Furthermore, the sales of the Mazda 3 models (sedan and hatchback combined) reached their highest level since May 2021.
In contrast, Mazda’s Canadian branch, Mazda Canada Inc. (MCI), reported a decline with 6,281 vehicles sold, representing a 21% drop compared to May last year. For the year to date, sales in Canada totaled 27,551 vehicles, down 16.1% from the previous year.
Conversely, Mazda Motor de México (MMdM) saw a positive trend, reporting 9,759 vehicles sold in May, which is a 13% increase year-over-year. The total sales in Mexico for 2026 have now reached 42,682 vehicles, showing a slight 0.2% decrease compared to the previous year.
