Real Path Choices from Unschooling Experiences
In Tokyo's Suginami Ward, NIJIN Academy is hosting a unique event designed for young people who have experienced unschooling, along with their parents. The lecture, titled
"Path Choices and Real-Life Today", takes place on
July 19, 2025, and features current high school and university students sharing their personal journeys through the education system.
Event Details
The lecture aims to offer insights into the realities of educational paths that are seldom discussed openly in conventional forums. Participants will hear from university students who once faced the challenges of dropping out and current high school students who are thriving in non-standard educational environments. The focus is on how they navigated their paths, from finding the right school to experiencing the daily life that comes with their chosen educational route.
Why This Matters
Unschooling can often create feelings of isolation or confusion about the future. This event is intended to empower attendees—both students currently struggling with school attendance and their parents—by providing real-life examples of diverse high school options, including:
- - Part-time high schools
- - Correspondence schools
- - Specialization programs at various institutions
Participants will learn that exploring educational pathways is about finding what best suits them rather than adhering strictly to traditional expectations. This inspirational and informative session not only aims to dispel the stigma surrounding unschooling but also instills hope that alternative routes can lead to fulfilling futures.
