BISSELL and Aly Raisman Shine a Light on Pet Homelessness at NY Fashion Week

BISSELL Teams Up with Aly Raisman at New York Fashion Week

At this year’s New York Fashion Week, BISSELL® partnered with celebrated gymnast and animal advocate Aly Raisman to spotlight the critical issue of pet homelessness. The event took place at Webster Hall on September 9, as part of the third annual Best in Show fashion show in collaboration with designers Rachel Antonoff and Susan Korn.

For 150 years, BISSELL has focused on creating cleaner and happier homes for families and their pets. Their mission was central to this year’s showcase, tying in with the BISSELL Pet Foundation's Fix the Future® initiative. This marks BISSELL's second consecutive appearance at the famous fashion event, reinforcing their commitment to pet welfare.

During the show, the runway came alive with the presence of 15 charming adoptable dogs from Animal Haven, each paired with celebrity handlers hoping to attract loving families. The lively atmosphere celebrated the incredible roles pets play in our lives while raising awareness about the vital work being done by the BISSELL Pet Foundation.

Aly Raisman, an ardent supporter of pet adoption, expressed her pride in helping to raise awareness for Fix the Future®, which focuses on reducing pet homelessness through spaying and neutering. “Every BISSELL purchase supports the Foundation's mission to reduce pet homelessness. Since November 2023, we’ve helped more than 452,000 pets through our initiative,” she stated.

This year's event featured an innovative CONE-TURE installation, creatively designed around the traditional post-surgery pet cone. The centerpiece, the BISSELL Cone of Honor, transformed the familiar “Cone of Shame” into a stylish symbol of honor for choosing spay and neuter procedures, thus promoting awareness for the Fix the Future initiative. This playful approach exemplifies BISSELL's belief that tackling pet homelessness should also involve engaging the community in creative ways.

The BISSELL brand’s long-standing dedication to pets goes far beyond cleaning products. With their Every Purchase Saves Pets™ campaign, BISSELL actively supports efforts to improve the lives of animals, which include adoption services, spay and neuter programs, microchipping, transport, vaccines, and crisis response. Their mission with Fix the Future® addresses the underlying causes of pet homelessness by increasing access to affordable spay and neuter services in areas that are most in need.

Laura Bretz, Global Brand and Communication Strategy Director at BISSELL, emphasized the company's dedication, saying, “For 150 years, pets have been at the heart of BISSELL. Best in Show provides us with a joyful way to raise awareness for Fix the Future and highlights the essential role of spaying and neutering in reducing pet homelessness.”

Designer Rachel Antonoff also shared her enthusiasm for the event, stating, “Best in Show brings together everything we love—fashion, pets, and the joy of unexpected experiences. BISSELL is a natural partner because pets are central to what they stand for.”

Since its inception in 2011 by Cathy Bissell, the BISSELL Pet Foundation has worked tirelessly with over 6,025 organizations across the U.S. and Canada, positively impacting them and their efforts to support over 1.3 million pets. By leveraging its expansive outreach, the Foundation has been able to assist in spaying and neutering over 452,000 animals since November 2023, handling nearly 13,000 days of surgery in collaboration with 196 organizations in 28 states.
