A Unique Photo Quest Event at Kobe Suma Sea World with Konan University

Exciting Days Await: "Tension Orca Boost! Smile Photo Quest" at Kobe Suma Sea World

Kobe Suma Sea World is set to host a vibrant participatory event titled "Tension Orca Boost! Smile Photo Quest" in collaboration with Konan University. This event, which runs from February 7 to February 15, 2026, invites visitors to engage in an interactive photo mission throughout the aquarium, combining both fun and memorable moments as we approach Valentine's Day.

The initiative is spearheaded by students from the Economics Department at Konan University. They have organized everything—from planning to executing the event—ensuring a unique experience for all attendees. The theme revolves around “LOVE,” “smiles,” and “creating memories”, perfectly aligning with the spirit of Valentine’s Day!

Participants will be tasked with capturing special moments at designated spots such as the Valentine’s Photo Booth and the Mirror Sheet Photo Spot. Each successful mission completed provides an opportunity to take home exclusive original merchandise from Kobe Suma Sea World.

Mission Details

The quest is divided into two levels: Beginner Missions and Advanced Missions. To encourage widespread participation, these missions are designed to entertain while also fostering interaction with the natural world.

Beginner Missions

To receive a piece of original merchandise, participants must complete at least two of the following tasks:
  • - Capture a photograph of an orca or a dolphin.
  • - Take a picture at the Valentine’s photo booth.

Note: The availability of merchandise is limited, and once it's gone, it's gone! Each weekday offers 40 gifts while weekends provide 90 gifts.

Advanced Missions

To elevate the challenge, completing the Advanced Missions requires tackling all beginner tasks plus three additional ones. Completing all five tasks rewards participants with Orca Lottery Tickets, with only 10 available daily. The additional tasks include:
  • - Capturing an orca or a dolphin previously unphotographed.
  • - Taking a picture at the Mirror Sheet Photo Spot.
  • - Completing a “hand-holding” photo with friends or family.

This event is not merely about fun; it also stands as a testament to how educational and entertaining experiences can be harmoniously blended. The students from Konan University, specifically the Ishikawa Seminar in the Economics Department, focus on practical learning experiences. They have engaged in thorough surveys and discussions with staff to craft a more enticing environment for visitors who wish to experience the aquarium and its events.

Learning Through Participation

These missions allow students to not only apply their learning about regional economics but also to understand how to strategically engage the public in educational activities. By facilitating this event, students are acquiring vital skills in event operations, safety measures, and customer interaction. Through collaboration between the academic and operational worlds, they create engaging educational opportunities for others while enhancing their abilities to solve problems and communicate effectively.

Event Location

The photo quest will take place within Kobe Suma Sea World, renowned for being the only location in Western Japan that showcases killer whale performances. In addition, it offers a buffet restaurant where guests can delight in meals while watching these magnificent creatures.

Kobe Suma Sea World aims to merge learning and entertainment for its guests, creating an edutainment experience for all ages. Everyone is invited to explore the wonders of marine life, take beautiful photos, and participate in this unique event!
