U.S. News Unveils the Best Hybrid and Electric Vehicles for 2025



On April 16, 2025, U.S. News & World Report, a renowned authority in consumer rankings, announced the winners of the 2025 Best Hybrid and Electric Cars awards. This marks the second consecutive year that Hyundai has dominated the competition, securing three prestigious awards. As the market for hybrid and electric vehicles expands, U.S. News evaluated 115 models to determine the most impressive offerings across ten categories.

Alex Kwanten, managing editor of Autos at U.S. News stated, "With the ongoing demand for hybrid and electric vehicles, consumers are presented with an increasing number of choices. From luxury to affordability, this year’s awards exemplify the top electrified vehicles available."

Hyundai's standout models include the Hyundai Ioniq 5, recognized as the Best Electric SUV, the Hyundai Ioniq 6, honored as the Best Electric Car, and the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, which was awarded the title of Best Hybrid SUV. These awards not only showcase Hyundai's innovative designs but also its commitment to sustainability in the automotive industry.

In addition to Hyundai's achievements, several other vehicles maintained their championship statuses: the Ford F-150 Lightning continues to reign as the Best Electric Truck, having held this title since its inception in 2023. The Lucid Air, awarded as the Best Luxury Electric Car, has received this honor for four consecutive years, proving its excellence in the luxury electric segment.

Further accolades were given to the Toyota Camry, crowned Best Hybrid Car, and the Lexus NX Hybrid, named Best Luxury Hybrid. Notably, the Rivian R1S earned its first win as the Best Luxury Electric SUV, praised for its exceptional range and impressive performance metrics, highlighting the company’s rising status within the electric vehicle market.

For the first time, the Volvo XC60 Plug-In Hybrid was recognized as the Best Luxury Plug-In Hybrid, thanks to its commendable acceleration, comfortable interior, and a plethora of standard features. The Mazda CX-90 PHEV was also acknowledged, winning the title of Best Plug-In Hybrid with its outstanding performance and well-built design.
