What is a Dementia-Friendly Café?
A critical part of the ongoing efforts in Itabashi is the establishment of Dementia-Friendly Cafés. These cafés are open spaces where individuals with dementia, their families, and community members of all ages can come together. Here, they can share their experiences, seek advice, and learn about dementia in a welcoming environment. With several cafés spread throughout the district, residents can easily find one that suits their schedule and interests, ensuring everyone has access to necessary support and community connection.
What is Team Orange?
Initiated by the government in 2019,
Team Orange consists of trained dementia supporters who create a network of assistance for individuals and families living with dementia. The goal is to foster a sense of coexistence in the community, allowing everyone—irrespective of their cognitive status—to feel valued and respected. Team members engage in a variety of activities ranging from farming to art, brain training quizzes, health consultations, gardening, musical events, and light exercise, all tailored to promote well-being and inclusion.
