Major Enhancements to IPG's G-Guide
On April 8, 2025, IPG Co., Ltd., headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, introduced significant updates to its web browser-based electronic program guide service, G-Guide. This upgrade enhances the way users can search for various types of content, including TV shows, talents, and streaming services in a unified search experience.
Unified Search Functionality
Previously, the G-Guide only displayed results pertaining to TV shows matching the entered search keywords. The upgrade now features three distinct tabs:
TV Shows,
Talents, and
Streaming Content. Users can seamlessly switch between these tabs to explore content relevant to their interests simultaneously.
TV Shows Tab
This tab maintains its previous functionality of displaying results for TV shows based on the search criteria. Not only does it provide users with relevant TV show listings, but the sorting function has been enhanced for better usability. This improvement facilitates a more streamlined experience for users looking for specific shows.
Streaming Content Tab
The new
Streaming Content (VOD) tab allows users to find streaming options that match their search keywords. Results are organized by season, providing a clean and clear overview. By clicking on a specific streaming title, users can access episode summaries and thumbnails, as well as transition directly to the respective streaming service's site. Furthermore, users can filter results based on various streaming providers such as TVer, TELASA, Hulu, and more, giving them comprehensive insights into available content.
Talents Tab
The
Talents tab shows results for any keywords related to talents. This feature displays not only the talent's profile information but also the currently airing or upcoming shows featuring them. It's a critical addition for fans eager to keep track of their favorite personalities and their latest works.
New Search Box Feature
Recognizing the shift in how users interact with media, IPG added a new search box at the top of the program guide. In the past, users primarily navigated through dates and times to find shows. Now, with this new search tool, even first-time users can easily explore a wider variety of programs based on their interests with just a keyword search.
Commitment to Enhanced User Experience
This upgrade is tailored not just for existing G-Guide users but also for newcomers looking to make the most of their viewing experience. IPG aims to provide a richer and more user-friendly platform that enhances how viewers discover and engage with content.
As a recognized partner that officially manages viewership content metadata, IPG collaborates with various broadcasting stations and streaming service providers to optimize the matching of viewers with content. By continuing to innovate and enhance its services, IPG is committed to ensuring that audiences have a fulfilling and enjoyable viewing experience.
