A New Era of Proxy Voting in Japan
In an outstanding partnership, Monex Securities and Broadridge Financial Solutions have unveiled Japan's first-ever proxy voting service tailored for American stocks. This innovative offering allows individual investors in Japan to exercise their voting rights directly on U.S. stock holdings, addressing a long-standing challenge faced by these investors. By utilizing Broadridge's secure platform, Monex Securities clients can now participate in virtual shareholder meetings, access shareholder meeting materials online, and vote on issues pertaining to U.S. publicly-listed companies.
When companies hold shareholder meetings, investors who hold shares as of a specified date will receive notifications via their registered email addresses. This feature enhances engagement for Monex Securities clients, moving Japanese investment practices closer to the advanced standards of corporate governance that prioritize individual shareholders' rights.
