Lindian Resources Partners with Carester to Develop Advanced Oxide Separation Facility

Lindian Resources and Carester Strategic Partnership

Lindian Resources Limited, listed on the ASX as LIN, has entered into a significant strategic collaboration with Carester SAS aimed at the development of a cutting-edge oxide separation facility in Stepnogorsk, Kazakhstan. This partnership includes a substantial 10-year off-take agreement that showcases Lindian's commitment to enhancing its rare earth processing capabilities.

Understanding the Partnership

The collaboration focuses on establishing an 8,000 tonne per annum REO solvent extraction and oxide separation facility. The technology and engineering services agreement signed on September 2, 2026, outlines the framework under which both companies will conduct a Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) with completion targeted for the end of 2026. Carester, known globally for its expertise in rare earth processing and separation, will spearhead this initiative in conjunction with Tetra Tech Coffey.

Long-Term Offtake Agreement

As part of this partnership, Lindian and Carester have formalized a binding long-term offtake agreement that extends over a ten-year period, with the option for up to an additional ten years. The focus will be on procuring both Mixed Heavy Rare Earths Compounds (SEGH) and obtaining the right of first refusal for Mixed Heavy Rare Earth Carbonate (MHREC). This strategic alignment is essential, as Carester is already prepared to utilize these high-quality heavy rare earth products at its Caremag refining facility in Lacq, France, which enjoys robust backing from French and Japanese government funding initiatives.

Economic Significance

Lindian’s operations in Kazakhstan are strategically positioned to tap into the growing global demand for rare earth elements, particularly those used in high-performance magnets and electronic components. The anticipated production from this partnership not only aims to cater to increasing market needs but is also supported by favorable structural conditions in Kazakhstan. The local government has recognized the importance of this project, promising support that includes infrastructure and compliance facilitation.

Moreover, the financial metrics are encouraging, given that the off-take pricing is linked to the Carester Realised Price, which is subject to a government floor price across France, Europe, the US, and Japan. This positions the partnership strategically to leverage price stabilization and customer loyalty.

Infrastructure Benefits

The Stepnogorsk facility is backed by an advanced industrial ecosystem, complete with power, gas, water, and infrastructural amenities. This existing framework is expected to provide Lindian with significant capital and operational cost advantages, further cementing its competitive edge in the industry.

Lindian's operational strategies include deepening the vertical integration of its production pathways—from monazite concentrate to market-ready products. This integrated approach ensures that Lindian will sustain multiple revenue streams and reinforce its market presence.

Future Prospects

Moving forward, Lindian Resources aims to enhance its production capacities and market reach. They are focused on key projects that involve the ongoing development and commissioning of the Kangankunde site, alongside maintenance assessments at their SARECO facility. With rapid advancements in technology and strong industry partnerships, Lindian is well-positioned to become a leader in the global rare earth supply chain.

Investor Engagement

Lindian Resources will hold an investor briefing on September 3, 2026, where the Executive Chairman and key directors will outline the partnership with Carester, discuss the strategic roadmap of the oxide separation facility, and review the latest developments in the rare earth sector. This event is crucial for maintaining investor confidence and transparency as the company embarks on this promising venture.

This strategic partnership with Carester signifies a pivotal moment for Lindian Resources, as it moves towards producing high-value separated oxides that are increasingly vital for various high-tech applications. The collaborative effort with Carester reflects a robust pathway toward optimizing the rare earth supply chain, ensuring both companies are poised to make significant contributions to this essential market.
