Discovering Japanese Culture Together
On August 3rd, Bunkyo Gakuin University, under the leadership of President Tsutomu Fukui, launched an exciting cultural event titled "Discover the Richness of Japanese Culture." This initiative was organized as part of a fieldwork project for a cross-disciplinary course in Intercultural Marketing, specifically enacted by students from the Faculty of Foreign Languages and the Faculty of Business.
In collaboration with YAMATO Co., the event provided a unique opportunity for 10 international students from Uzbekistan, Turkey, Bulgaria, South Korea, and the United States to engage deeply with Japanese culture. The goal was not only to enhance their understanding of Japan but also to allow these students to carry the essence of Japanese culture back to their home countries.
Event Details
The purpose of the event, which took place at the Hongo Campus of Bunkyo Gakuin University, was multifaceted. It aimed to promote international exchange while serving as a global PR platform for Japan’s rich cultural heritage. The Faculty of Business students utilized event marketing techniques to orchestrate this significant experience. They recognized the crucial role that international students play in sharing the beauty of Japan worldwide, and the event was a testament to their commitment to fostering this cultural exchange.
On the day of the event, the students were given yukata, traditional Japanese summer garments, courtesy of YAMATO Co. They participated in various cultural activities including learning about tea ceremonies and creating handmade uchiwa, traditional Japanese fans. These activities were meticulously designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of Japan’s traditional culture, offering participants a richer experience during their long-term stay.
