Exploring a Half-Century of Change in Living Spaces
As the topic of rising rental prices and modern living conditions becomes increasingly relevant,
CHINTAI, a leading company in apartment searches in Japan, is launching an extraordinary exhibit marked by its 50th anniversary. Scheduled for
June 26-28, 2026, at
Shibuya Scramble Square, this event titled `18250 Days of Me: My Universe (Room) Museum` offers a delightful comparison between the past and present, showcasing what has changed and what has remained consistent over the years.
Held on June 26, a media preview will provide an exclusive opportunity to learn more about the exhibition's background, goals, and the insights offered by the company's leadership and design team from Asobism.
“
Our lives have undergone immense transformation in the past 50 years. From the furniture style to the decor of living spaces, and even the trends among residents, everything reflects the societal shifts we've witnessed,” explains
Tomoya Okuda, President of CHINTAI.
The Exhibition Highlights:
1.
The Exhibition of Changed and Unchanged: Participants can dive deep into how life has evolved through various exhibits showcasing items that reflect both the changes and constants in living since the Showa era.
2.
Experience of Showa and Heisei Rooms: Attendees can immerse themselves in a recreated environment that visualizes the living spaces of the Showa and Heisei periods. Iconic items and thematic decorations evoke the essence of each era. Two characters representing typical residents—
a Showa father and
a Heisei gal—will enrich the experience with anecdotes from their respective times.
About the Experience:
Each room allows attendees to engage interactively with the historical context through dialogue with the characters, revealing anecdotes and cultural nuances unique to each era. Attendees are not just witnessing history; they're participating in a shared narrative that spans decades.
