The Launch of the TEAM School Project
In a significant effort to reshape education in Japan, LX DESIGN, Fukuoka Smart City Community (FSC), and EduPorte have come together to roll out the TEAM School Project. This pioneering initiative seeks to promote collaboration between educators and businesses to create a unified learning experience for children in the region. Addressing the challenges of overburdened teachers and the hurdles of external partnerships in educational settings, the project aims to implement a model that fosters collaboration among schools, educators, and local enterprises, starting in Fukuoka City.
Background and Features of the Project
In recent years, schools have faced significant barriers when it comes to engaging with external resources, largely due to cultural and institutional challenges. Teachers often find it difficult to rely on outside support, while numerous local companies and individuals are eager to contribute to education. The TEAM School Project is designed to bridge this gap by establishing a collaborative framework that combines:
- - Active, dialogical, and deep learning opportunities for students.
- - Educational experiences that are connected to society.
- - Utilization of local resources in educational contexts.
Key Aspects of the Initiative
1.
Co-Creation of Lessons by Teachers and Businesses: Unlike traditional models where classes are delivered in a one-sided manner, the project encourages joint planning that takes into account the specific challenges and contexts of each school.
2.
Implementation of the “TEAM School” Concept: This initiative promotes collaboration among all stakeholders involved in education, including teachers, businesses, educational boards, and community members, working together as a cohesive unit.
3.
Fukuoka as a Model for Expansion: With collaboration between FSC, LX DESIGN, and EduPorte, the project envisions a broader rollout including local governments to facilitate wider adaptation.
Project Timeline
- - December 14, 2025: A workshop for lesson development will take place, where selected teachers and companies will form teams to co-create curricula under the guidance of a facilitating team.
- - January 18, 2026: A public event at Kusagae Elementary School in Fukuoka City will showcase the collaborative lessons developed by the teams, open to the general public and media.
- - Post-2026: The project will be expanded to local schools, where refined lessons will be offered across Fukuoka City and neighboring municipalities.
