Revolutionizing Procurement with Automated Tolerance Integration in CAD Systems

Introduction

The world of manufacturing is increasingly leaning towards automation and efficiency, and the recent integration between Meviy and iCAD SX is a substantial step in that direction. Effective from March 9, 2026, Meviy, an AI platform focused on machine parts procurement, will allow for automatic integration of dimensional tolerance information set in iCAD SX, a 3D CAD software. This significant upgrade is designed to improve the user experience and increase productivity in manufacturing operations by allowing seamless reflection of dimensional tolerances in Meviy's estimating conditions.

Background

Despite the widespread adoption of 3D CAD in design processes, many procurement operations continue to rely on converting 3D data into 2D drawings for specifications, including dimensional tolerances. This approach creates challenges as important information may not be effectively conveyed to partner companies during procurement. Additionally, various 3D CAD software systems used by these companies often lack standardization, resulting in limited applicability of 3D data's tolerance information. In response to substantial requests from major automotive manufacturers for direct reflection of dimensional tolerances from 3D data into Meviy, this new feature has been developed.

New Feature: Automated Tolerance Integration (iCAD SX Version)

The Automated Tolerance Integration feature allows Meviy's AI to automatically interpret dimensional tolerances set in iCAD SX and directly apply them to estimating conditions. Previously, users had to manually set each tolerance while referencing drawings, which not only increased the likelihood of setting errors but also extended the estimation process. With this new functionality, the task of adjusting tolerances manually is eradicated, resulting in a 25% reduction in estimating efforts. Initially, this service will be available for machining (square parts) and sheet metal processing, and plans are in place to expand it to machining (round parts) in the future.

What is Meviy?

Meviy simplifies the procurement process for machine parts by allowing users to upload their 3D data, enabling instant quotes through AI, and achieving shipment in as little as one day through its unique digital manufacturing system. By significantly reducing more than 90% of the time traditionally spent on procurement tasks, Meviy addresses inefficiencies that customers faced in sourcing machine parts. Over four consecutive years, Meviy has retained the title of No. 1 in market share in Japan and has received high acclaim in enhancing manufacturing productivity, including winning the Cabinet Office of Japan Award during the 9th Monozukuri Japan Award. The expansion of services overseas is also a key focus, providing time value in the global landscape through digital transformation in procurement.

Digital Model Shift by Misumi

Misumi Group is transforming the manufacturing process through the power of digital technology. Since the launch of the first internet ordering service for components in 2000, Misumi has built a mechanism that streamlines the component selection and ordering process online. Furthermore, through innovative services like Meviy that leverage AI for automatic estimations based solely on 3D data, Misumi has brought significant change to the industry, enhancing productivity in ways previously thought unattainable.

As part of a growing strategy known as 'Digital Model Shift,' Misumi is committed to providing new value to its customers with propositions like 'Profit from Misumi, Ease with Misumi.' By digitizing the design and procurement processes, manufacturing efficiency can achieve unprecedented heights, coupled with cost reduction through optimal procurement services. Misumi aims to liberate customers from tedious tasks, allowing them to focus on more creative and high-value work. By continually transforming each individual's time into a valuable asset, Misumi strives to create sustainable growth together with its customers.
