Experience the Autumn Night Visit at Zuiganji

From October 24 to November 24, 2025, NAKED, INC. will host a spectacular event, the "NAKED Matsushima National Treasure Zuiganji Autumn Night Visit," at the national treasure Zuiganji in Matsushima, Miyagi Prefecture. This unique occasion merges culture and art, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the stunning autumn foliage illuminated through creative light displays.

A Theme Inspired by Lord Date Masamune

This year’s theme is inspired by "Tsukimi Light Up," centered around the moon, a beloved subject of the famous feudal lord Date Masamune. Attendees can expect a breathtaking visual experience that merges the beauty of Matsushima's landscape with the architectural artistry of Zuiganji, creating a fantastical ambiance through light and sound. This year’s event promises a refreshing alternative to traditional autumn light-ups, providing a night visit experience distinct to Zuiganji.

An Innovative Combination of Light and Learning

The night visit at Zuiganji presents a new experiential program that blends light with scholarly engagement. Using illumination to connect national treasures and important cultural properties, this event intuitively communicates the historical value, sculptures, and architectural beauty of the site.

In the main hall's outer garden, illuminated scenes evoke the serene atmosphere of a Zen garden, intertwined with projections highlighting the elegant curves of beams and traditional carved designs found in the temple’s architecture.

Highlights of the Event

Illuminated Gardens: The outer garden of the main hall, designed to offer an incredible view of the moon, will feature a mesmerizing light display involving the moonlight's reflections and shadows, invoking a unique harmony between the garden's vibrancy and the stillness of Zen.

Projection Mapping Installation: At the temple's kitchen (kuri), one of Japan's largest existing kura structures will host a stunning projection mapping display, emphasizing its intricate beams and decorations. This artful blending of visual elements will reveal the intrinsic beauty of the building while conveying its deep cultural significance.

NAKED Distance Lantern® (Free Rental): Visitors can borrow these artistically designed lanterns to enhance their exploration. The unique lanterns will cast colorful shadows on the ground, transforming visitors into part of a light art piece. Patterns inspired by the moon, lotus, and camellia will be available in five vibrant colors.

NAKED Hanamikuji® (500 yen): A popular fortune-drawing experience that transforms into art, allowing guests to tie their blessings into flowers, making wonderful souvenirs to take home.

Special Moon Viewing Dates

From October 29 to November 6 and November 11 to November 13 and 19 to 21, visitors can experience distinctive performances during their night visits, focusing on the enchanting garden views that Date Masamune would have admired.
