Exploring the Unseen Burdens of Expat Families in an Upcoming Webinar

Free Webinar on Expat Families' Unseen Burdens

Overview

On June 12, 2026, at 12:05 PM JST, Board & Beyond, a Tokyo-based consulting firm, is hosting a free webinar titled "Quick Break: How to Face the Unseen Burdens of Expat Families—Insights from Real Data and What Companies Can Do."

This event is targeted at human resource professionals and anyone interested in understanding the challenges faced by expatriate families. It features authors from the recently published book, Living Overseas: Experiences of Expat Families, who will offer insights based on a survey of 244 expatriate family members.

Why Attend?

The increasing trend of early repatriation and declines in performance among expatriates emphasizes the stress and isolation faced by expatriate partners. Corporations are recognizing the importance of supporting these individuals, yet the specific issues they encounter remain largely unaddressed due to cultural and organizational barriers.

The book, released in May 2026, provides a comprehensive analysis, illustrating the challenges and worries faced by expatriate families before travel, during their stay, and post-repatriation. It transforms personal experiences into a shareable narrative supported by meaningful data, thereby enabling companies to grasp the real situation of expatriate partners.

Webinar Insights

During this informative session, guest speaker ARINA will discuss the realities indicated by the data collected and delve into how individuals and companies can effectively contribute towards improvement.

Key Takeaways Include:
  • - Understanding the unseen burdens of expatriate families as highlighted in the book.
  • - Analyzing the data for actionable insights regarding the challenges.
  • - Recommendations for businesses on the necessary involvement with expatriate families.
  • - Suggestions for individual expatriates, their families, and companies regarding the "first steps" to take in addressing these challenges.

Who Should Attend?

This webinar is ideal for:
  • - HR professionals from companies sending employees abroad (including global HR, family support, and education services).
  • - Company representatives aiding expatriates and their families.
  • - Current expatriates or family members who are feeling isolated or face challenges during their overseas experience.

While specifically tailored for HR professionals, everyone interested in enhancing expatriate experience and improving employee retention and performance is welcome to join.
