Honoring Our Heroes: The National Care Letter Campaign

As Veterans Day approaches, America's Adopt A Soldier® is calling upon the generosity of the American public to join their heartfelt initiative, the 2026 National Care Letter Campaign. The nonprofit organization’s ambitious goal is to collect an astounding 300,000 handwritten letters and cards, intended for both deployed service members and veterans residing in care facilities across the country.

Mary Keeser, the founder of America's Adopt A Soldier®, expressed her hopes for this year's campaign: "In prior years, we’ve had over 200,000 care letters shared with our heroes. This year, we aim to surpass that, reaching over 300,000 so that every veteran in a care facility or hospital receives at least four letters, alongside our current active service members."

The essence of this initiative resonates strongly across all demographics, as letters come from individuals aged 3 to over 100 years. Mary's words highlight this beautiful diversity: "The expressions of gratitude, creativity, and unity come from various places—kitchen tables, classrooms, college dorms, faith-based organizations—showing how Americans come together to display their support. The letters are the caring pulse of America towards our service men and women."

How to Participate

Everyone is invited to participate in this campaign, whether you are a family, educator, community group, or a business. Creating a note of gratitude, a handmade card, or even a simple drawing conveying appreciation is not only encouraged but can have a lasting impact on the recipients.
