Debbie's Dream Foundation Launches 2025 Youth Art Contest
Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer (DDF) is thrilled to announce the return of its much-anticipated annual event, the
2025 Youth Art Contest. This enriching initiative invites young artists aged 18 and under to harness their creativity while simultaneously raising awareness about stomach cancer, a cause close to the heart of DDF’s late founder,
Debbie Zelman.
A Legacy of Advocacy and Awareness
Debbie Zelman, who lost her battle with stage IV stomach cancer in 2017, devoted her life to advocating for better awareness and research in this often-overlooked area. After being diagnosed in 2008 and given only weeks to live, she became a champion for gastric cancer patients around the globe. Her legacy lives on through DDF, which she established in 2009, aimed at providing education, support, and comfort to patients and families affected by this disease.
Contest Details
From September 2 to October 30, 2025, youth artists and photographers are invited to submit their original works based on themes of strength, resilience, and a vision for a world without stomach cancer. This creative competition not only showcases young talents but also serves a significant purpose—each winning piece will be featured on DDF's line of blank greeting cards, offering encouragement to patients, survivors, and caregivers.
Cash Prizes and Recognition
The winners of this year’s contest will be rewarded with cash prizes, which include a
$200 Grand Prize and
$100 for additional selected entries in both art and photography categories. The winners’ works will be published alongside a short biography and photograph of the artist on the greeting cards. This initiative not only applauds artistic talent but also draws attention to the importance of raising awareness about stomach cancer.
DDF President,
Michael Ehren, stated, "Engaging young artists in this way not only fosters creativity but also builds awareness about stomach cancer among future generations. We are proud to see young people channel their talents into something that uplifts patients, families, and caregivers worldwide."
