Hitomile Expands Renewable Energy Initiatives Across Kansai and Kyushu Regions

Hitomile Co., Ltd., formerly known as Kakuyasu Group, is making strides toward sustainability by transitioning to renewable energy sources across its branches. Under the leadership of CEO Hiroyuki Maegaki, the company has been rolling out its renewable energy strategy since the fiscal year 2023, starting from the Tokyo metropolitan area and now extending to 18 locations in the Kansai and Kyushu regions.

In collaboration with Mitsuuroko Green Energy, based in central Tokyo, Hitomile will progressively switch to renewable energy supplies at its offices, distribution centers, small shipping warehouses, and stores located in Osaka and Fukuoka. This initiative not only champions environmental conservation but is also projected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 500 tons annually.

Infrastructure Enhancements

As part of this expansion, Hitomile is also introducing a new large-scale frozen and refrigerated facility. Scheduled for completion in July 2025, this facility will feature three temperature zones to manage frozen, partial, and refrigerated items. This capability is crucial for storing and distributing a range of temperature-sensitive products, including fresh foods which have become increasingly in demand by both food service and retail sectors. The partial temperature management will significantly enhance freshness retention and quality control, supporting the anticipated growth of Hitomile's platform business.

Commitment to Environmental Sustainability

Hitomile's dedication to environmental sustainability extends to incorporating eco-friendly designs at its new locations. The company’s fourth headquarters building, completed in December 2025, has been equipped with renewable energy solutions since its inception. This commitment is evident not only at new sites but also existing locations, where efforts to minimize environmental impact are ongoing. Hitomile plans to continue implementing energy-saving technologies and optimize operations to further reduce electricity consumption while promoting environmental responsibility through its business activities.
