Embrace the Beauty of Tokyo with TOKYO Walk 2025
On December 6th, the second edition of the walking event "TOKYO Walk 2025: Enjoy the Views! Tama Trek Course" will take place, organized by the Tokyo Sports Culture Foundation. This initiative aims to promote health and community engagement through sports, under the slogan "Creating Tokyo's Future through Sports."
The main attraction of this event is a scenic course spanning approximately 18 kilometers, starting and ending at the scenic Tama Central Park. Participants can choose from three courses based on their preferred distance:
- - Long Course (18 km): This route includes the stunning views of Kamakura Street and the panoramic hills of the Tama Highlands, concluding at Nagayama North Park.
- - Middle Course (10 km): Explore a route offering views of Mount Fuji, leading participants through Noduka Park and Ipponsugi Park.
- - Short Course (5 km): A more accessible route that takes walkers to attractions like Sanrio Puroland and Tochinoki Park, perfect for families with children.
The event has a limit of 4,000 participants, ensuring a manageable and enjoyable experience for everyone involved. Registration costs are:
- - Pre-Registration (by November 26): 1,000 yen (500 yen for middle school students and seniors above 75, free for elementary school children).
- - On-the-Day Registration: 1,500 yen (1,000 yen for middle school students and seniors above 75, free for elementary school children).
In addition to the main walking event, attendees can participate in the "TOKYO Architecture Walk," where they will tour nearby architectural gems equipped with an audio guide showcasing historical buildings, modern constructions, and stylish locales.
To enhance the experience, the "TOKYO Walk Marche" will be set up at the start and end of the event, bringing together various food and merchandise stalls for walkers to enjoy after their trek.
The event also features a unique mobile-friendly option dubbed "Smartphone Walk," available until December 21. Participants can enjoy walking at their own pace and timing while experiencing different routes, such as:
- - Ooi Futou Central Seaside Park Area: Approximately 16 km, exploring nature and culture.
- - Kichijoji Area: A retro stroll of about 12.6 km through local streets.
- - Yanesen Area: A leisurely 10.9 km route exploring the historic Yanaka Shopping Street and the Ueno Onshi Park.
Walkers achieving two or more completions in the Smartphone Walk will receive a unique pin badge as a reward. Details about participation and updates will be available on the official website.
Both first-time participants and those who completed the previous edition will earn a charming original medal featuring the mascot character "SUSIE" in a fun design. To receive this medal, participants must bring their passports from the first event.
