44th ROBO-ONE Championship Results
The 44th ROBO-ONE Championship, specially sponsored by MISUMI Group, took place at the Kanagawa Prefectural Youth Center on September 20-21, 2025. Hosted by the Japan Bipedal Robot Association, this event attracted many competitors from Taiwan and Hong Kong, making it a spectacular international gathering. The excitement was palpable not only at the venue but also online, as over 88,000 viewers tuned in through Twitch to watch the live broadcast.
The highlight of the tournament was the remarkable performance of 'Cobis', the defending champion, who clinched the title for the second consecutive year. In addition to the main event, a 'ROBO-ONE Beginners' competition was also held, encouraging family participation.
Competition Overview
The competition spanned two days, showcasing thrilling 1-on-1 battles between bipedal robots. On September 20, qualifying rounds took place, leading to an intense final tournament with a total of 46 robots. This included 32 machines that advanced from the pre-qualifications and others that secured seeds from prior competitions.
The final tournament featured a nail-biting atmosphere, with each match keeping spectators on the edge of their seats. In the semifinals and finals, competitors from Japan and Taiwan faced off, highlighting the international appeal of the event. 'Cobis' exhibited an aggressive strategy throughout the competition, using remarkable techniques to captivate the audience and ultimately took home the championship title.

In addition to the main competition, this year’s MISUMI Award recognized three robots for their exceptional stability, unique designs, and captivating performances. The selected robots were:

ROBO-ONE Competition Schedule:
- - September 20 (Sat): Qualifying Battles from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- - September 21 (Sun): Final Tournament from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, followed by the award ceremony at 3:30 PM.
ROBO-ONE Beginners Competition Schedule:
- - September 20 (Sat): Second Competition from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with the award ceremony at 4:00 PM.
- - September 21 (Sun): Third Competition from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with the award ceremony at 2:50 PM.
The competitions were designed in a way that scoring points was achieved through attacks similar to kendo, making it an engaging experience for all participants.
